I talked to a coworker. Apparently, UT had an idea something was going on but wasn't 100% sure. It was believed there was a possibility the school itself (Miss.) had an NCAA violation or was going to get nailed, not Tyndall. To be safe, UT put wording in Tyndall's contract if he or the issue became a problem. The wording allowed UT to fire him and not have to buy out the rest of his contract which is what happened.
All in all, it appears things worked out well for UT. We got rid of Tyndall without having to buy out a huge contract while picking up a quality coach. Not bad how it ultimately happened.
