My daughter has always said she wanted to move to LA when she turned 18. She also hates superficial fake women who use their bodies real or plastic for their advantage. Welcome to LA! Needless to say she's not so interested in moving there any more. Victory!!

We both liked the movie though.

It took her seeing Entourage to figure that out? I guess she gets her brains from your side of the fambly...

True Detective may not be worth my time. I've heard rumblings the last few weeks from some people who have the critics version (first 4 episodes). I will give it another few weeks before I see if I need to "John from Cincinnatti" it. So far, it's just basic noir.

I'll read Sepinwall today to see what he says.

my fear for True Detective may be coming true

I remember reading that the writer (or writers) were burning the midnight oil to finish out the first script - they apparently either didn't have it fleshed out by the time filming started or they wanted to take the story in a different direction for Harrelson

The result for the viewer the journey was fun but the destination left something to be desired.

Now with the second season they basically have to start from scratch , trying to recreate what they had without having any inspiration for why they are doing it.

I'd say that usually leads to disaster more often than not.

I couldn't get anything from the first episode in terms of character development - and TD is all about the flashbacks, so maybe we'll see more about how Ferrel went from being straight laced cop to drunk, coke snorting, chain smoking dirty work guy of Vince Vaughn - but from the first episode I've already decided I have no interest in seeing his relationship with his son become part of the show. The CHiPs guy has some potential though.

It sure looked like that. The first 50-75% of the season was great and then it sucked really hard.

I only saw half of True Detective, but agree what Ive seen so far was pretty forgettable. There is no hook that the dual interview-flashback sequences provided in the first half of the original.

Yeah, Birth of a Nation and Gone With The Wind should stay around. It should be viewed in a proper historical context, but why get rid of it? That is idiotic. It's like people editing Huck Finn...

Speaking of Huck Finn, here are Mark Twain's remarks on the 92nd anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The second section in particular illustrates how differently people thought about the Civil War back then. It's worth a look...

Saw Ted2 today. No review for you but if you've seen the trailer, there is a scene in the trailer where they are being chased and the car chasing them is hit and blows up. This scene apparently was cut for the movie. So don't look for it

So True Detective took an interesting turn this week.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Haven't seen it yet. Wasn't feeling it after episode 1. So, worthwhile?

I gave the new AMC series Humans a go last night...meh. Hubby introduces the knockout android to the family - the kids are alright with it (especially Junior, heh) - but the harpy wife is a serious buzzkill. Get over it, Gladys - hubby paid dearly for ALL the extras.

Unless something picks up pretty quick, this one looks like a rare AMC clunker.

why don't they just make the droid look like Betty White? That would solve alot of problems.
