Same with all these large urban centers where the population is overwhelmingly African American, yet the police treat them badly. Maybe there are a large section of AA that don't mind the police being the way they are as long as the abuse is not turned on them.
Most of the police forces were established when populations were majority white. What does that mean?

1 - Institutional hiring. Multiple generations of family members are in the departments and - like everyone - they hire there own. Even with Civil Service exams, etc., there's a reason why NYPD was over 50% Irish-American at one point.

2 - Cops don't live where they police. http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-out- ... story.html - 79% of the employees of the LAPD live outside of Los Angeles.
So in some places - most of them urban - you almost have an army of occupation doing the policing. The cops live 50 miles away in a "red" county and come in town to keep the natives in order.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Prof- So when fundamentalists call for a boycott of Disney or one company or another for violating decency or morals or whatever, they are engaging in Stalinism?

I was hoping that would die down. It makes me genuinely sad that prof has become IB lite.

The thing about the Fifa scandal is that we've known they were dirty for decades.

Yes...someone finally had the balls to do something about it. Shit, even the Olympics look good compared to these guys.

Unfortunately a lot of the worst corruption is probably in nations that don't have extradition treaties with us.

Exactly.

But if we can rid of the Blatter infection we have, we'll be better off.

BTW, did you see one of the FIFA guys use an Onion article as his corroborating evidence?

Yeah, that was Jack Warner, long known to be a crook. He's central in the $10 M bribe that helped get South Africa the 2010 WC. South Africa's admitted they paid the money but insists it was intended to "aid the African diaspora" and wired the money to a bank account only Jack Warner controls. They've been getting away with this shit for so long they don't even try very hard anymore.

I also get the opinion that none of them are very smart. Kinda like Dubose cheating at Bama. It's just clumsy, obvious and ham-fisted.

AA is humor-challenged. It's a common affliction among the Scots.

You are a dullard. We were doing lines from goodfellas:

Henry Hill: You're a pistol, you're really funny. You're really funny.

Tommy DeVito: What do you mean I'm funny?

Henry Hill: It's funny, you know. It's a good story, it's funny, you're a funny guy.
[laughs]

Tommy DeVito: What do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What?

Henry Hill: It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's... funny, the way you tell the story and everything.

Tommy DeVito: [it becomes quiet] Funny how? What's funny about it?

Anthony Stabile: Tommy no, You got it all wrong.

Tommy DeVito: Oh, oh, Anthony. He's a big boy, he knows what he said. What did ya say? Funny how?

Henry Hill: Jus...

Tommy DeVito: What?

Henry Hill: Just... ya know... you're funny.

Tommy DeVito: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

Henry Hill: Just... you know, how you tell the story, what?

Tommy DeVito: No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said I'm funny. How the fuck am I funny, what the fuck is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!

Henry Hill: [long pause] Get the fuck out of here, Tommy!

Tommy DeVito: [everyone laughs] Ya motherfucker! I almost had him, I almost had him. Ya stuttering prick ya. Frankie, was he shaking? I wonder about you sometimes, Henry. You may fold under questioning.

I am a long-time huge fan of Goodfellas. I could kareoke that scene if called to do so.

It doesn't diminish the fact that you are humor-challenged. It's not your fault you are grumpy and constipated. It's hard to overcome one's ancestral DNA.

You didn't comprehend Tick's "Oh no you din't." (That really should have been "Oh no you di-in't" - a classic hip hop expression, but I digress).

Talk about your cultural insensitivity....

Washington (CNN)More people have an unfavorable view of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton now than at any time since 2001, according to a new CNN/ORC poll on the 2016 race.

While Clinton remains strikingly dominant in the Democratic field, the poll shows that her numbers have dropped significantly across several key indicators since she launched her campaign in April.

A growing number of people say she is not honest and trustworthy (57%, up from 49% in March), less than half feel she cares about people like them (47%, down from 53% last July) and more now feel she does not inspire confidence (50%, up from 42% last March).

anytime the government mandates Gay lesbian and transvestite celebrations in government institutions there's no doubt it is at the expense of religion.

mainstream religion is getting pounded from liberal America to abandon centuries of religious beliefs of what constitutes sin and what doesn't. religion's core values are being challenged and abandoned and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Even though my sense is there isn't an entity that created us for the purpose of eternal damnation if we are non compliant --I do think religions teachings are for the most part beneficial to society as a whole.
