So the whining, crying SEC threatening to demand the NCAA shut down satellite camps. Demands that everyone play by the same rules!

Irony

This is just a loophole. This original rule was lobbied for by Big 12 schools in Texas and mid-major's in Houston because Oklahoma State was holding their official camps in the Houston area rather than in Oklahoma. The NCAA made a rule that your camp had to be in your state or within a certain mile radius of your campus. This latest brouhaha is just a response to ahem, some schools trying to skirt the rules by just having their coaches go to camps and say "oh no...these are not my OFFICIAL camp, I am a guest coach!" wink wink.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Well the SEC (and Texas) also have a vested interest in making it as difficult as possible for northern and west coast teams to recruit in their home territories. Hence the rule, which really has nothing to do with aiding student-athletes. It's to try and build a wall around the south and tell others "hands off"

And Saban/the SEC is bluffing. They don't want to hold camps in Indianapolis or Madison. Nor does Florida want Saban popping up all over the state as a "guest coach". Y'all are more worried about each other than you are us.

No non-Bama fan wants Saban off a leash. He's a tireless recruiting machine.

And, while the SEC has its own rules for the satellite camps, if that's the world we live in, and the rule won't be changed, then so be it. Let's drop our rule and have SEC satellite camps.

I can't imagine why any supporter of such camps would waste a single keystroke in complaint. Surely, Goose and Gander should be allowed to graze the same fields?

It is nearly impossible for Saban to recruit any better than he already has for past decade. If there is currently a leash on him recruiting-wise, it doesn't seem to be cramping his style.

There are currently eight so-called "Saban Rules" enacted in an effort to slow his voracious recruiting. Without them, the gap would be wider between the supreme recruiting kings and the mortals.

It isn't the NCAA or the Big10 preventing Saban from having satellite camps. It's the SEC. Certain SEC programs (I would guess Florida & Georgia are at the top of the list) want to make it as difficult as possible for out-of-state coaches to recruit what they regard as a private preserve. And yeah, I think they're ultimately more concerned about Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU than they are Jim Harbaugh.

The only "Saban rules" I am aware of are: (1) Auburn can't use stretch limo Hummers for Big Cat Weekend anymore because they lure too many 5 stars to Auburn, and (2) Saban wants to outlaw the hurry up no huddle offense so that Malzahn's offense can't run up and down the field on Smart's defenses anymore.

There are rules against players lending their likenesses to market boosters' businesses, but judging from T-Town Menswear and Hot Wheelz those rules don't apply to Saban.

Yes, it's the SEC who put a clamp on the shady satellite camps. We assumed that the others would follow suit in our attempt to clean up college football. We were wrong. So, we're doffing our halos and picking up the brass knuckles.

You need to read more. And, no, I don't mean ITAT.
