Wow. I assume they didn't spend their careers shooting unarmed black males in the back.
Well, not on camera . . .

Professor Tiger wrote:GA is the LGBT capital of the country? I live in GA, and believe you are mistaken. Gay marriage isn't even legal, and never will be until SCOTUS imposes it. An Indiana-like RFRA law is likely to pass within weeks. There is a sizable LGBT presence in the liberal colony of Decatur, near Emory University, but they aren't that big. The huge black church population in ATL keeps the LGBT's in a headlock.

Nothing like the real LGBT capital, San Fran, where the mayor performs gay marriages, Harvey Milk day is a legal holiday, etc.

Atlanta 'gayest' city, Athens also 'gay-friendly'

Move over, San Francisco — Atlanta is coming through.
According to an article in Advocate magazine, which caters to the LGBT community, Atlanta is the “gayest” city in America. The article created its list of 15 cities based on factors such as the number of same-sex couple households per capita, the number of gay elected officials and the number of gay bars per capita.

http://www.politifact.com/georgia/state ... has-some-/

Claim about size of Atlanta's gay population has some merit

To sum up, Councilman Wan said Atlanta has one of the highest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender populations per capita and ranks third nationally. From what we can determine from U.S. census and other data, it’s valid to state Atlanta has one of the highest LGBT populations in the country.

Gayest Cities in America

5. Atlanta, Ga. (pop. 443,775)
Atlanta has long been the epicenter of the gay South, which is why it consistently makes this list, regardless of how the criteria change. And it’s no wonder, as Hotlanta’s LGBT folks strut to the beat of their own drummers — in stark contrast to much of the conservative surrounding state. The city has tons of great gay bars, including five on Out’s best-of list; the all-women Spelman College; Black Gay Pride in September and Atlanta Pride (one of the country’s largest) in October; and MondoHomo, a May event celebrating art, drag, burlesque, film, and BBQ. (You decide if the Real Housewives are a net plus.)

In a landmark week, acceptance of gay people is a fact in Georgia Bible belt

Blue Ridge, Georgia, a logging town in the state’s Appalachian foothills, used to give gays two choices: hide or leave. This was God’s country. Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal and Catholic churches speckled the landscape.

Those who could not stay in the closet packed their bags and wound down a forested two-lane road to the relative anonymity and sanctuary of Atlanta. Few returned.

Times have changed. A gay and lesbian influx has transformed this corner of the Bible belt. They have bought homes, opened businesses and filled leadership positions.

“Gays have really changed and revived this community. We have brought jobs. Locals are happy that the city is thriving again,” said Jack Morton, who runs several businesses with his partner, Michael Brunson. “I was hesitant at first but not one time have I heard anyone make a negative comment or even insinuate. It’s been inclusive.”

In addition to managing a beauty salon and design store, Morton, who has won four Emmys for make-up, is chairman of the county chamber of commerce’s tourism committee, sits on the economic development authority and helps organise events, including a 4 July parade that features a marching band in drag. “It’s a riot,” he says.

I stand by my assessment of Atlanta not being the LGBT capital of the U.S. The black pastors will never allow that sort of thing. Outside Decatur, gay couples walking the streets holding hands would get attacked by a gang of Aunt Esther's.

Blue Ridge is where "Deliverance" was filmed. 'Nuff said.

That part about Savannah is probably true. Downtown is home to Savannah College of Art and Design ("SCAD") which means the purple mohawks, gages, tattoos, piercings, Goths, etc. are ubuitous. Gay sex goes along with that scene.

Hmmm, let's see, where would you rather live, San Francisco or anywhere in Georgia? Gee, that's a tough one...

I can't afford to live in SF. It's a beautiful place and their seafood is fabulous.

When I was there, I wore my NRA hat around just to piss off the locals.

Ex-NFL running back suspected of killing prison cellmate

FRESNO, California (AP) -- - Former National Football League running back Lawrence Phillips is suspected of killing his cellmate in a Central California prison, officials said Monday.

Phillips' cellmate at Kern Valley State Prison was found lifeless early Saturday and later pronounced dead, prison spokesman Lt. Marshall Denning said in a statement.

Phillips, 39, was once one of the top U.S. college football players at Nebraska. He played for the St. Louis Rams in the NFL, until being released in 1997 for insubordination. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

Phillips is serving a sentence of more than 31 years. He was convicted of twice choking his girlfriend in 2005 in San Diego and later that year of driving his car into three teens after a pickup football game in Los Angeles. It wasn't clear if Phillips has an attorney.

He is suspected of killing Damion Soward, a 37-year-old inmate from San Bernardino County serving 82 years to life for a first-degree murder conviction.

Prison officials said they suspect a second inmate at the prison of killing his cellmate. It's unclear if the two are related.

John Munoz, a 24-year-old sentenced to 42 years on for sexual battery and other charges in Los Angeles County, is suspected of killing cellmate, 41-year-old Rattanak Kim, who was serving a sentence of 35-years to life for conspiracy to commit murder in San Diego County.

Prison officials are investigating both deaths along with the Kern County Coroner and Kern County District Attorney, prison officials said.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Sometime in the 1990s I began to understand the Clinton way of lying, and why it was so successful. To you and me, the Clinton lies were statements demonstrably at variance with the truth, and therefore wrong and shameful. But to the initiated they were an invitation to an intoxicating secret knowledge.

What was this knowledge? That the lying was for the greater good, usually to fend off some form of Republican malevolence. What was so intoxicating? That the initiated were smart enough to see through it all. Why be scandalized when they could be amused? Why moralize when they could collude?

It always works. We are hardly a month past Hillary Clinton’s Server-gate press conference, in which she served up whoppers faster than a Burger King burger flipper—lies large and small, venial and potentially criminal, and all of them quickly found out. Emails to Bill, who never emails? The convenience of one device, despite having more than one device?

It doesn’t matter. Now Mrs. Clinton is running for president, and only a simpleton would fail to appreciate that the higher mendacity is a recommendation for the highest office. In the right hands, the thinking goes, lying can be a positive good—as political moisturizer and diplomatic lubricant.

In the meantime, let’s simply note what the liberal way of lying has achieved. We are on the cusp of reaching the most consequential foreign-policy decision of our generation. We have a deal whose basic terms neither side can agree on. We have a president whose goals aren’t what he said they were, and whose motives he has kept veiled from the public.

Maybe the ayatollah will give him his deal, and those with the secret knowledge will cheer. As for the rest of us: Haven’t we learned that we’re too stupid to know what’s for our own good?

Machiavellian for dems, Nixonian for repubs. Yes, it is 1984.

"By 2050, earlier, probably – all real knowledge of Oldspeak will have disappeared. The whole literature of the past will have been destroyed. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron – they'll exist only in Newspeak versions, not merely changed into something different, but actually changed into something contradictory of what they used to be. Even the literature of the Party will change. Even the slogans will change. How could you have a slogan like ‘freedom is slavery’ when the concept of freedom has been abolished? The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking – not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness."

Nah, Cheneyesque.

All of the Nixon-haters died or retired in the 90s and no one has read Orwell since 1984 (OK, since 1989).

No need to wait for 2050 for that, all you have to do is read a few posts in this shithole to know that the future is now...

I saw Hillary's interview today. She is for America, and wants to move the country forward. She wants to improve the economy, lower unemployment, and increase prosperity for all. She is for the middle class, and wants to help those who are struggling. She wants to strengthen families, schools and hospitals. She wants to provide high quality health care for all Americans for free. She will ensure that all Americans treat their fellow citizens fairly, with dignity and respect. She vows to keep America strong and respected around the world. She wants to usher in a new era of peace and tranquility in the Middle East, where Israelis and Arabs live side by side in harmony and tolerance.

In short, she is for everything good and against everything that is bad.

I'm ready for Hillary 2016!
