Quinnipiac released a poll in Ohio asking voters to choose between Clinton and seven different Republicans. Clinton beat all seven. Not especially great news. No Republican has ever become President without winning Ohio.

Well, off the top of my head, every state in the South and New England is probably eliminated since most of the South voted Democrat every single year until the 60's. And most of New England votes Democrat no matter what since the 60's. But I'll try and track down if there's any other state that can make the same claim

Following states voted against Dubya once or both times: California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, New Mexico, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine. That's 21 states right there that have voted against a Republican that ended up winning.

West Virginia and Iowa voted for Dukakis in 1988. Total's up to 23.

Georgia Voted Jimmy Carter in 1980. 24 total.

In 1968, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Miss, and Alabama all voted for Humphrey or Wallace. 29 total

In 1952 or 1956, Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina, and North Carolina voted for Adlai Stevenson. 33 total

Virginia, Florida and Oklahoma voted Democrat in 1924 against Coolidge. 36 total

In 1908, Tennessee, Nebraska, Nevada, and Colorado voted against Taft. 40 total

In 1900, Idaho and Montana voted against McKinley. 42 total

In 1896, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Kansas voted against McKinley. 46 total

So it looks like these four states have voted for every single Republican winner: Ohio (Since 1860), North Dakota (Since 1896), Arizona (Since 1920), Alaska (Since 1960)

None. Nixon won every state except Massachusetts in 1972 and Reagan won every state except Minnesota in 1984, so between the two of them, they covered all 50.

The District of Columbia, however, has never voted for a Republican.

Low California snowpack ushers mandatory water restrictions

A staggering 11 trillion gallons are needed for California to recover from the emergency.

The estimate is based on NASA satellite data analysis of how much water the state's reserves lack. That's more than 14,000 times the amount of water it would take to fill the Dallas Cowboys stadium, according to CNN calculations. It's the amount of water that flows over Niagara Falls in about 170 days' time.

The entire state faces at least a moderate drought and more than half of the state faces the worst category of dryness, called an exceptional drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

California isn't the only state feeling an absence of rain. As of late September, 30% of the Lower 48 faced at least a moderate drought, particularly in the Southwest states neighboring California and in Texas, the Drought Monitor says.

In Northern California, the Sierra Nevada snowpack's water content is at its lowest late-March level since records began in 1950, at just 6% of the late-March average, the California Department of Water Resources said Monday.

The snow's water content is a key measurement for water resource managers, since it measures the amount that will trickle into the state's reservoirs when it melts later in the spring.

More than 98% of the state of California remains in some level of drought, according to the most recent U.S. Drought Monitor, a website that tracks drought across the country. The drought has been exacerbated by the state's warmest winter on record.

A manual snow survey will be conducted Wednesday in the Sierra, about 90 miles east of Sacramento. Normally, snowpack is at its peak on April 1.
