Could be. Christ did not claim to the originality of the idea, but, definitely, the affirmation of it for his followers.
Many different philosophers, from different parts of the world, with no connection to each other espoused this principle. Wonder where they all got it from?

Zeus.
Or it's an obvious humanistic precept that any non-sociopathic sentient being over the age of 4 will arrive at and espouse even if they don't always practice - and, as such, doesn't have to be "given" to mankind by some bearded omnipotent sky dad.

How simple-minded do you have to be to think that something that basic just HAD to come from some supernatural source? The fact is, you can even go the other way with is and quite reasonably conclude that it comes from pure self-interest and expediency. "If I'm nice to other people, they will most likely be nice to me." Duh. Not to mention the valid idea that some people are just weak and could never dominate other people, so they naturally want to turn that into a virtue.

It's an evolutionary trait. We're all pack animals and need functional group dynamics to survive. The "golden rule" is one way to ensure a thriving society and thriving species. The reason that so many different and disconnected groups articulate same idea is because we are all part of the same species. You have to be a fucking idiot to think it came from a god.sardis wrote:Could be. Christ did not claim to the originality of the idea, but, definitely, the affirmation of it for his followers.

Evolution doesn't exist! Haha! Checkmate!
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

The Federal Reserve's efforts to stimulate the U.S. economy after the financial crisis ended up costing savers nearly half a trillion dollars in interest income, according to report released Thursday.
Since the central bank dropped interest rates to near zero at the end of 2008, savers have labored under plain-vanilla bank accounts and money market funds that have yielded close to nothing. Critics have long said the Fed's quantitative easing efforts have boosted asset prices, particularly in the stock market, but exacted severe costs across other parts of the economy
My Fidelity Contra and Wasatch Core Growth funds are up in excess of 90%. Thanks Obammer.

I've made money on investments since 2008. A lot more than expected considering what Bush Jr. left us with.

lol The irony...toe and hordes of other teabaggers dropped out of the market when you-know-who got sworn in, and found a safe haven in bank accounts earning 2%. And now they bitch and moan because they earn 1%.
