In the next 2-3 days, a winter storm of historic proportions will hit the northeast - home of all the smart people in/from Ivy League schools and the captains of the MSM.

I wonder if any of those smart people will take a break from braving the predicted 2-3 feet of snow, 30-60 mph winds, subzero wind chill temps, and ask themselves, "Is the earth REALLY turning turning into a sauna?" Who should they believe - computer models or their lying frostbitten skin?

Do you really think that a local storm is indicative of global climate?

You don't know how it works around here? If it snows even one day in winter in Tennessee or the backwoods of Alabama, it's evidence that global warming is a myth. Every single winter we go through this shit. Global statistics be damned, it snowed in my backyard, it's a MYTH!!

I know the drill but I'm genuinely curious if he thinks the storm really has any global meaning. But, this is the same guy who pulls out the Antarctic sea ice as evidence that there is no warming despite it being explained more than once that sea ice is not really an issue but the disappearing land ice is a massive problem. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the comment.

No, my point was that congress undermining the President by inviting a foreign leader to speak is no worse than congress undermining the President by cutting off funding of his foreign policy.

Congress is legally entitled to invite a guest speaker.

I was ok in us supporting the Contras, as brutal as they may have been, to fight against communism. I was not in favor of circumnavigating congressional authority the way the Reagan administration did.

To be clear, sardis is okay with President Reagan and Ollie North trading weapons with Iran (who we were supposedly enemies with) in exchange for cocaine that we would then give to the murderous, extremely violent Contras so that they could wage war against the communists who had overthrown the US-backed dictator.

Sardis is okay with all this. He regards Reagan and North as valiant heroes for thinking up such a project. He thinks giving weapons to Iran is perfectly fine so long as you can claim you did it to beat Communism. But sitting down having talks with the Iranians now is high treason and we should take marching orders from Israel on the subject.

I'm just saying that, if the world was about to burst into flames in accordance with MMGWR eschatology, there shouldn't be too many "once a century winterstorms" or the "once per century brutal winters" like they had in the Midwest last year. Any apocalypse worth its salt should at least be.. I dunno... noticable? It's like the citizens of Tokyo being warned that Godzilla is ripping Tokyo up, but people step outside and there's nothing but crickets. If it weren't for constant MMGWR chicken little sermons, hardly anybody would perceive an imminent climate doomsday.

That is a perfect example of MMGW bullshit. Right up there with the term "Climate change" which says that, whether it gets warmer or colder, it's the end of the world and all man's fault. Utter illogical nonsense. The stubborn thriving of polar sea ice is not evidence that the earth isn't heating up, while the alleged shrinking of land ice is proof positive that the earth is sweltering. That is ridiculous on the face of it. We should all fly down to Antarctic and find the interface between land and sea ice. We can stand on one side of the line and piously say "nothing to see here," and then hop on one foot over to the land ice and squeal, "See! The earth is becoming a sauna!" Talk about angels dancing on pins.
