The puzzle is that everyone is misusing the word "factoid." However, it is misused so much that the definition has essentially changed.aTm wrote:this thread is now a logical puzzle I can't unravel

Re: North Carolina Tar Heels
That happens with several word definitions and pronunciations. For example, with the word 'forte' (meaning a strength) the majority of people now pronounce it 'for-tay' - however, the correct pronunciation is/was 'fort' - but so many people mispronounced it that they just added the second pronunciation to most dictionaries.
I actually like to pronounce it 'fort' just to see how many people will try and correct me.

I did the same thing in the hospital with the word rales (crap in your lung sounds). Most pronounced it ray-els. Correct is rauls.
Loved when someone would correct me, "Do you mean the patient has RAAAAAAAYYY-ELS?"
"No. That's what you lift to keep the patient from rolling out of bed."

...somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.

Re: North Carolina Tar Heels
reason number 1,279 why I will never live in California
---------------
Two rival male news helicopter pilots embroiled in a bitter feud over OJ Simpson’s infamous car chase have bonded 20 years later — over their choice to both become women.
The newsmen — Bob Tur and Dirk Vahle — bitterly clashed in 1994 when they both captured Simpson, suspected of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, on air leading cops on a low-speed chase in his white Bronco, Southern California Public Radio reported. Tur was flying for CBS at the time; Vahle was with rival NBC.
But a year ago, the two put the decades-long beef behind them after learning through a mutual pal, Desiree Horton, that they both were transgender.
“Desiree told me I should get in touch with Dirk Vahle,” said Tur. “I said, ‘Why? Dirk Vahle is an a—hole.’ She said, ‘Because Dirk is now Dana.’”
Vahle was aware of her former enemy’s transformation to Zoey after reading about it.
“You’ve got to be f—ing kidding me!” Vahle thought.
Leaving their grudges in the past, the two women bonded over their difficult sex-change journey, Tur said.
“When you go through something like this, it’s like going to war. It’s very, very rough, and you need people out there who understand. Dana was very understanding,” Tur said.

just heard they are building a Dave and Busters knockoff called Scene 75 about a mile from my house. Laser Tag, Indoor Go karts - that sort of thing.

By that you mean, you're going to be hitting that place to the point where they'll have your beer and nachos sitting on the bar by 6 p.m. every day when you walk in.eCat wrote:just heard they are building a Dave and Busters knockoff called Scene 75 about a mile from my house.
