Re: Florida State Seminoles
"To not be afraid to comply with an officer's commands."
I'm not afraid to comply with an officer's demands if it is a legitimate demand. If it is not, then there is no reason to comply. In fairness, a guy like me doesn't get hassled by the cops very often, if ever, so it's not really something I have to worry about day to day. But if I (for example) got pulled over and I wasn't speeding and hadn't done anything wrong, I would be like "Why are you stopping me? Do you have any reason for thinking I've done something wrong? Am I being detained? Am I under arrest?" If the answer to those questions is "Just because, no, no, and no", then I'm not obligated to speak to the guy or answer any of his questions or show him my ID or any of that, just b/c he is a cop. But again, that has never happened to me and I doubt it ever will...

have to agree
never do a breathalyzer
never allow a search
always ask for blood sample
keep both hands on steering wheel when pulled over.
if you want to be a real prick Ive heard you can just crack your window and show your license and registration but i think if cop asks you out of car you have to comply but make sure he gives you probalbe cause to ask you to stepo out of car.
every state is different/.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Tamir Rice was shot 2 seconds after the police arrived. No way he was asked three times to disarm himself.
The police said they told him three times...until the (silent) video was produced showing that the squad car drove up and the boy was downed 2 seconds later. After the vid, the officers adjusted.
Also, the police did not provide any medical assistance to the child, at all. An FBI agent was in the area and got there shortly after the child was downed and he administered CPR until the EMTs got there. Protecting and serving til the end.
Like I said earlier, however. The narrative is always stronger than the reality. Crash embraces the narrative.
It's always fun to have any conversation pivot to Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson rhetoric like they are major figures in any of this. It is more helpful to have a bogeyman to assist in cueing up the needed reaction to a topic without really digging into the numbers.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
surely you can see a difference in a man pulling a gun on a policeman and a man not wanting to get arrested for selling cigarettes on the sidewalkhe had a gun raised it and pointed at the officers who took him down. gun in hand/pointed at the police/refused to put it down.
a guy pulling a gun on a cop doesn't justify 100% complete compliance for every person ever confronted by a policeman, nor does it justify aggressive measures when they don't.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Tamir Rice is the 12 year old Cleveland boy goofing off with a plastic (realistic) toy automatic weapon at a park who was shot dead by police that ultimately changed their story once confronted with the fact there was video of the incident.
John Crawford III was the dude in Walmart absentmindedly swinging around a plastic toy gun in Walmart (that was sold in Walmart) while on a cell phone call. Police stormed the location (although no one was running out the building when they got there...which should have been a clue) and shot him dead. It was caught on camera. The officers were not indicted.
The Rice case is still not up for adjudication yet. So, it's possible the officer(s) will be indicted there. However, Crash (and was it BRM and/or 10ac?) have already told me that the officers are justified. So, there is that.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
47 cops shot dead this year so far
150 homicides in chicago this year most by shootings
over 1,000,000 per year classified as violent crime
the three cases you cite all are tragic but in the environment cops operate in i don't know how they could do much better. there will never be a year someone isn't tragically killed by a cop who makes a mistake
but why do we have to make it a race issue and ignore the rest of the facts. nobody remembers those 47 cops shot last year protecting us and the thousands of violent crimes occurring around them every week. the media would much rather publicize riots/prejudice/hatred from these few cases and ignore the thousands of good cops this country has.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
As they should, officers wounded or killed in the line of duty get proper justice in our legal system. Prosecutors/DAs don't show 'all the evidence' to the grand jury, and perps aren't called to testify in front of the grand jury. "You can indict a ham sandwich" holds true 100% of the time.crashcourse wrote:47 cops shot dead this year so far

I am so damn mad I think I will go loot my local wal-mart and walgreens!!!
WHOSE WITH ME!!!
WHOSE WITH ME!!!
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
