Maybe if they murder a few more for disobeying their "requests", the sheeple will begin to understand who is really in charge.

Honestly, crash. If some kid-faced patrolman asked you to put your hands behind your back and you KNEW you'd done nothing wrong.. you wouldn't make any effort to state your case pre-cuffs?

"the one common thread about all these cases is the victim not doing what the police asked "

Not really much excuse for the cop choking the handcuffed guy. He was obviously just pissed at the guy, maybe he had sassed him or whatever, but you can't choke a handcuffed perp. Even though it didn't look to me like he really applied much pressure or was really choking the life out of the guy, still, putting your hands around a guy's neck who is under arrest and handcuffed doesn't look good. If you're not smarter than that or can't control your temper better than that, you don't need to be in law enforcement...

I cannot understand even the most pro police folks thinking that the guy they choked to death in NYC for selling loosies, was a justified police action.

Well AA you can't really blame anyone but yourself if a cop kills you when you disobey him. He's really got no other choice. So when Obama sends his gun confiscation squads to take away all your guns, remember that lesson. They only need the slightest resistance on your part to be fully justified in doing whatever it takes to get your complete surrender. If that means shooting you down, so be it. If your family objects or tries to interfere, welp, the cops must take every precaution to protect themselves...that's what true justice is all about.

My girlfriend called the cops to take me in
I said you're never gonna do it friend
they just smiled and said, "O yes we will."
Sticks to the head, sticks to the chin
several bites from Rin-Tin-Tin
And I couldn't wait to get into that jail.

Yes, how many ATF/FBI agents were arrested and/or served time for murdering Randy Weaver's unarmed wife and shooting his son in the back.

....hell, how many were indicted?

I understand each one of those cases is highly controversial --and the cops might have overreacted or just plain fucked up

balance that with the 43 cops shot and killed so far this year in the line of duty. add 10 more who were killed due to vehicular assault
http://www.odmp.org/search/year

53 cops shot and killed by somebody whom we hear about for a 3 day news cycle as compared to the 4 or 5 cases a year the press and public get hold of basically accusing the police of murder fanning the flames for months.
again other then garner how many of us facing similar threats wouldnt shoot first and ask questions later. I bet there are of few of those dead 53 cops that wish they had

The only reason we have the 4-5 cases is because those were caught on tape and/or were under egregious circumstances. Most claims of excessive force are dismissed out of hand and get ZERO attention because we are conditioned to believe that cops are always right. Had the two shootings of the handcuffed guys not been caught on camera, everyone would've thought that the allegations were ridiculous.

THAT is the issue. When you are sworn in as a peace officer and given a badge, you are granted EXTRAORDINARY powers in the USA. Even if you are not in your jurisdiction, your are given special status. Along with that status is the understanding that you CANNOT respond like everyone else. You have a position of trust, which requires sober judgement and the ability to make the correct decision under pressure. The cop who shot the 12 year old washed out of his 1st police job because he was correctly evaluated as unable to take the pressure. The fact that another, larger police department picked him up is a direct indictment on the leadership and management of the Cleveland PD.

crash, If you are really looking for balance....how many of those cop-killers escaped indictment? Did any of them get to plead their case directly to a grand jury? "I'm sorry...I didn't wake up that morning intending to kill a cop...give my condolences to his family." Did the DA in any of those cases show ALL the evidence, even from the defense side?

I'm betting none of the cop-killers got excused by a grand jury on the grounds that they acted in self-defense. Even though the victim was armed...
