Confirmed that he isn't a Georgia grad. I'm good with this hire.

Re: Florida Gators
Great choice. Anyone else notice that every other coach Foley hires results in a national championship? And that is without a rape coverup.

Re: Florida Gators
I see the school is voting on the rape case and not a court. Even they won't announce a verdict till after the bowls.

sav - let me know when your QB has any sort of consequence with the school or law enforcement for his "rape"

It's more reminiscent of the origin of the 'Deion Rule'.savgator wrote:Kinda reminds you of the Dillard's fiasco doesn't it?
I have stayed off of the Jameis story - the water is too muddy in his misadventures and we had a few characters at the end of Meyer's tenure that I didn't care for.
He belongs to the Nole fans - they get to choose if they want to be proud of him. I'll choose to ignore him as he goes on to the pros.

She said it didn't happen. She was just pissed at him. Your qb had his charges postponed till after the season. Wonder why?The Gray Ghost wrote:It's more reminiscent of the origin of the 'Deion Rule'.savgator wrote:Kinda reminds you of the Dillard's fiasco doesn't it?

Zook wasn't. I read somewhere that Foley's record across all sports is about 80% of his hires win it all eventually - not a bad percentage if its true.savgator wrote:Great choice. Gainesville Sun --
"After negotiations between McElwain's attorney and CSU officials, the UF Athletic Association has agreed to a payment of $3 million over six years. McElwain will also pay the school $2 million over time. Florida and Colorado State will also play a game in Gainesville between 2017-20 with a $2 million guarantee.
McElwain's original buyout was $7.5 million.
McElwain's new contract at UF will average $3.5 million a year over six years. He was making $1.5 million at CSU."

Re: Florida Gators
Espn said the buyout was five mil. Everything else agrees
Re: Florida Gators
I am a Nole--albeit less so than I am a Dawg--and I will be happy to see him go. He's an absolute beast on the field, but his chuckleheadedness has grown tiresome. He's no Myron Rolle. That being said, I hope he stomps the Jackets into submission and wins another Title before going on to the NFL.The Gray Ghost wrote:It's more reminiscent of the origin of the 'Deion Rule'.savgator wrote:Kinda reminds you of the Dillard's fiasco doesn't it?

When the Gators give back their last Natl Championship for harboring a serial killer - I'll think about passing judgement on Jameis - until then - not so much.

Re: Florida Gators
You are vastly uninformed, sav. Which isn't particularly surprising...savgator wrote:She said it didn't happen. She was just pissed at him. Your qb had his charges postponed till after the season. Wonder why?
First, Treon's accuser never said "it didn't happen"...she said she did not want to pursue charges at this time (after much harassment, FWIW) and wanted to keep her options open. Which is pretty much what Jameis' accuser did (without the harassment as it wasn't publicized) for 11 months, when she decided to make it a TMZ story.
Second, with regard to the current situation with Jameis...it is a school hearing for student code of conduct. It is not a legal proceeding, purely a school thing. It is designed to handle fistfights in the union, cheating on a test, etc. but also covers things more severe (a good friend of mine went in front of a CoC hearing at FSU for having, but not brandishing, a gun in his dorm room). By school rule, Jameis' accuser has 12 months to file a grievance to have such a hearing, but after repeated requests by FSU to hold the hearing being denied by the accuser, she finally sent Jameis over 1000 pages of documentation after 20 months and demanded that the hearing be held in the next 9 days. That's why there was delay in the process (she has delayed EVERYTHING in this entire process).
Because of HER delay, the timing of the hearing was such that it occurred this week. The adjudicator (a former FL SC justice, in this case) has up to 10 days to come to a verdict. However, the school cannot even act on any verdict of guilty until all appeals are exhausted, which would be > 90 days. It is conceivable that if the adjudicator could come to a guilty verdict and the school or team decide to suspend him even though he could not be expelled or suspended from school after the appeals process has been exhausted.
I encourage you to do a little independent reading on the whole thing, and if you come to the conclusion that he did anything wrong, then at least it's an informed opinion and not an ignorant one.
Jameis has done many, many stupid things...some are fairly benign and not uncommon for 18 year olds out on their own for the first time (stealing Sprite from Burger King in a ketchup cup, bb gun fights, etc.). The crab leg theft was most likely a "hookup" he had with a Publix employee - it's an NCAA violation and something that virtually every athlete in every college town gets; either way it is morally concerning and further evidence of poor decision making. Screaming "fuck her right in the pussy" in the student union (no student was reportedly offended, FWIW) was him trying to be funny and a horribly poor decision with the daily scrutiny he faces and with the rape accusation cloud following him around. I do not personally think he is a sociopathic, morally bankrupt individual - it is much more likely that he is a naive, immature athlete who lacks the proper filters to make decisions at times. But, like DDAL, I am looking forward to him moving on to the NFL and not making headlines every time he farts in public.

I'm just amazed that Jameis' misadventures haven't been blamed on Auburn. That's the usual M.O.

Other than Tallahassee has anyone ever heard of the victim deciding when a felony would be tried. Bullshit Kevi.
