I'm guessing by posting that here you were thinking they were referring to FoxNews, but they were referring to Fox the broadcast channel.

Fox Network has problems connecting to viewers under 50...
Fox News has the same problems.

Clear Channel (now iHeart Communications) struggling for solvency ever since striking a deal with Bain Capital in 2008 (which former Presidential candidate is connected with that company...?). Rush Limbaugh seen as largely to blame as his show keeps getting more expensive in spite of declining ratings and advertisers bailing.

Fair and balanced reporting on that site...
He is still the top rated radio program. Now, investors threw him too much money because broadcast radio is a slow dying industry. He also has the same problem that a lot of long standing broadcast personalities have. Even the average age of Dave Letterman's audience is over 50. It has nothing to do with the content, but the medium. The Comedy central guys have a young audience, but it is very small.
Most young people get their news off the internet. CNN actually does better than FOxNews and MSnbc, but all are way behind Yahoo and Google

If it weren't for Fox, I wouldn't be educated by the countless commercials about reverse mortgages, gold coins, tax debt lawyers, sex enhancement pills, "help! I've fallen and I can't get up! alarms" etc.

You're perfect for them.
It's like that all over broadcast television. You'd think the pharmaceutical companies owned all the stations.

Bold faced lie.....but hey, that's how you get people to believe AGW, disappearing emails, you get keep your insurance, it's just the junior varsity.... etc etc etc .....do as I say.
The media business—by nature—is in constant turmoil. With so many comers and goers, short-lived fads, and new industry-shattering technologies, it’s remarkable that one thing has stayed constant for over a decade. Fox News (FOXA) is marking its 50th consecutive quarter as the top cable news network, according to data from Nielsen (NLSN). This goes all the way back to 2002, when the media and political worlds were completely different.
As the number of prime-time broadcast TV viewers has gone down, the number tuning into cable news has gone up. Fox has benefited. Its ratings have increased while those of its cable competitors, as a group, have mostly stayed flat. That’s a sign that the growth hasn’t come from other news networks but from viewers who had not previously been watching cable news. Nielsen’s data shows that the only other cable network to be No. 1 in its category for 50 straight quarters is, unsurprisingly, ESPN

Alison Lundergan Grimes (D), who is trying to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) this fall, appeared before the Louisville Courier-Journal editorial board on Thursday to make her pitch for their endorsement. The life-long Democrat, whose father represented Kentucky for the party in the state House and who herself has been on the ballot in the state on the Democratic ticket, was asked a simple question. Did she vote for President Obama in 2008 and 2012?
And she didn't answer. Repeatedly.

Uh nothing you posted contradicts what I said: Fox News has a problem attracting younger viewers. Just like Republicans have a problem attracting young voters. It's a channel for angry old white men. And also dirty old men leering at the 40-something ladies wearing miniskirts.Toemeesleather wrote:Dr. Strangelove wrote:Fox Network has problems connecting to viewers under 50...

Young people don't get their news from Bill Oreilly and fucking Fox News. Great for Fox that they're tops in cable news. That's sort of like winning the big ten. Nice and all but it's heyday is long past. Fox dominates a dying industry. Pop the champagne!!!

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Except for a brief flurry of interest with the story of the missing Malaysian airlines, it has been a rough year for the cable networks. There were several negative milestones in May: Fox News Channel had it's lowest full-day viewership in the key news demographic of viewers aged 25 to 54 since 2001, and MSNBC had its lowest full-day viewership among all ages since 2007.
And it's still just cable. Faux News on it's best night gets 2 mil viewers....NBC Nightly News averages 8.5, ABC 8.0, and CBS 7.6. In the morning FNC gets 1.2 mil and the big three do nine million combined.
So yeah, Fox whips CNN and MSNBC...big whoop.
