Doing things simply because it sounds nice is not good enough of a reason to alter law. But when you have a certain segment of society patting themselves on the back for reforming law (the way that has happened recently in New York) simply in a vain attempt to make someone else "whole" at the expense of "the other", then the reformers are often blind to the damage that they may have wrought.

My No Fault Divorce example fell on deaf ears and blind eyes. And that is a shame.

Now you are just being obtuse. I am sure in all the history of man, there have been many corporations, tribes, inventions, and such done with 2 men or 2 women that had to secertly hide their love for each other because it wasn't norm or allowed to have a union recognized by the state.

As far as your rant about welfare and such, well picture this. What if there were all of sudden a HUGE number of "married" people that had good jobs, educated, and well adjusted people? What if these "married" people, were able to adopt or take these childern out of the "system" so that they might have a better chance to have an education and grow up with some sense and decency? Wouldn't that make more of a difference for everyone in the long run? You can break the cycle that some of these people go through for years????

Trust me when I say this. Gays not being allowed to marry will not save our empire. We have BIGGER issues than that.

I'd argue that if you have same-sex-attraction, that you are probably not well adjusted. If a 45 year old educated man with a good job, can ONLY get an erection by seeing a naked body of a 12 year old girl (someone he wants the right to marry) does that make him well adjusted? Because there are some people that see same-sex-attraction as deviant as child-attraction.
