The town gets busy during the day when the cruise ships unload, but they generally leave at the end of the day and the town has lots of good restaurants. One whole side of the island is virtually uninhabited, there are about 6 good eating/drinking spots during the day, then that whole side closes down at night. Where are you staying?
We got a house about 10-15 minutes south of the town about 2 minutes from Chankanaab Park which is where the race/swim starts. I'm going to be pretty beat up in the days after the race so all I really want to do is lay around the pool and beach but I need to figure out a beach club type of place I can take my kids since I doubt they'll be up for doing nothing for a few days.

Chankanaab is the perfect place to drop them off. It's kind of a big tourist attraction b/c it's not far from where the cruise ships come in, but it's perfect for the kids and even for you if you're beat and just want somewhere to lounge. I prefer the smaller bars (you can snorkel anywhere right off the beach at most of them), but the kids will prefer Chankanaab. I think they even have swim with the porpoises there. You'll see most of the island on your run, there's basically one road that goes around the perimeter and it's not much more than 26 miles in total, so you should see all of it over the course of a triathlon or even just a marathon...

The bike ride is a 39ish mile loop that cuts across the island in the middle and then down and around the bottom half. We do that three times. The run is an 8.5 mile loop that starts in town and goes up towards the airport and back. We do that three times. From what I understand, the bike ride is really cool when we are in the uninhabited part of the island and right on the coast. Apparently, it's very windy, too which will not be fun.

I'm glad to hear that Chankanaab is a good place for kids. The fewer cabs we have to take to get around, the better.

We rent a car when we go, but cabbing shouldn't be a problem from where you're staying. You'll be seeing all of the island on the bike, no real need to schlep the fambly around to the nice spots when you can leave them trapped in some godforsaken tourist trap all day while you explore the island on bike and foot, discovering all the wonders Cozumel while they eat corn dogs and quarrel ...

"Chankanaab is the perfect place to drop them off."

Hedge slyly slips this past Cletus while dazzling him with "local" knowledge of the dirty Mexicans. He's probably booking his flight to Cozumel as we speak and will be sitting on a park bench in Chankanaab, decked in shades and a fedora Lecter-style waiting for Cletus to drop off the kids for a "fun" day.

I am wiped. Myrtle Beach, 4 courses in 4 days.

23 of us, 4 condos, each with 3 rooms.

•Friday June 24th 7:32AM - 8:20AM: Heritage Club
•Friday June 24th 2:26PM - 3:14PM: Tradition Golf Club
•Saturday June 25th 8:00AM - 8:48AM: Founders Club at Pawley's Island
•Sunday June 26th 8:06AM - 9:00AM: True Blue

Heritage was nice with very fast greens. Tradition over--sanded their greens so much that it was like a boat going through water. Founders was like a municipal course. True Blue was just beautiful (True Blue Condos is where we stayed)

I've never been a fan of pinks (places down here often call those 'lone rangers').

Foursome (usually). The Pink Ball player rotates by hole. That score counts. It's combined with another score. That other score can be low ball, high ball, or random (etc) depending on that course's rules.

Scoring stops when the pink ball is lost. Primarily based on the poorest golfer in your group.
