I tend to skim over certain subjects, fantasy football being one of them. For some reason it must've caught my eye this time...

Have we talked about Rob Bironas dying in a car wreck?

Dude was cut from the Titans. According to his wife was going to bed around 10 pm or so a few weeks later, next thing she knows he's out in his truck tooling around Nashville threatening to kill anyone that looks at him ....literally, driving his truck at a high rate of speed and eventually t-bones a tree and kills himself.

Some students saw that his truck was smoking and drove up to him and said "hey, just wanted to let you know that your truck is smoking" and he says "I am going to kill you " as his response and proceeds to chase them thru neighborhoods long enough for one of the passengers to call 911 and reach a speed of over 100mph.

Another couple made the mistake of pulling up next to him and proceeded to attempt to side swipe them. At the next stop sign, the male passenger gets out to confront him and he attempts to run him down, then pulls out at full speed - eventually losing control and hits the tree.

There is some speculation that he was wildly upset and depressed from the Titans cutting him and thought he was given a last shot with Detroit who called him earlier that evening and told him they were looking elsewhere.

He married Terry Bradshaw's daughter in June. Maybe he hit a tree because he realized she looked like him.

Some people lose their minds when they lose their jobs. My nephew is a supervisor at UPS here in Bham. Yesterday, a guy came in who was fired the day before (wearing his UPS uni), walked by my nephew and went in the office and shot the two managers in the head and then himself.

Just crazy shit. If I had ever lost my job, I think my only reaction would be, "Hey, I get severance?"

Excellent job stringing the tenor of your Bironas story in one direction and ending it in a wicked punchline. Well done.

Stop your whining. Carolina's D cost me back to back losses. I'm seriously thinking about dropping them. Damned meddling media over this domestic abuse shit! If these women learned to take a punch like birds in the '50s did, we wouldn't be in the state that we're in now!

Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

I knew I should have played Steve Smith against Carolina.

matter of fact I thought I did and I was all "I'm so damn smart" while watching the game, then I went to fantasy and saw I had him on the bench

This weekend sucked for me in Fantasy

speaking of Fantasy, did anyone catch the story about day to day fantasy leagues from Fan Duel and Draft Kings on real sports?

All these guys have taken this approach similar to day trading stocks with algorithms and the ones who have their shit together are bringing in 6 figures just by feeding data into spreadsheets and then setting their lineups and buying into "leagues". Their spreadsheets include the normal stats but some go as far as to include weather, speed variations at elevations, - just some crazy shit.

They are taking advantage of a loophole in the gambling laws where they wrote a loophole in online gambling to differentiate between games of chance and games of skill. The loophole was written specifically for fantasy leagues under the assumption the average players would only commit a couple of hundred of dollars at most and the leagues would last an entire season

so of course someone out there saw an opportunity to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in cash from this - and hence the daily fantasy leagues with thousands of dollar pots and buys ins

They owners of these sites were defending the idea that this really is a game of skill, and "professional" players were telling you how smart they were and how they were just killing the guys like us that just show up to spend $20 and have fun

So the culmination of the story is that Fan Duel had the $5m championship night where they brought in some of their biggest winners and regular players for a chance to win a $1m grand prize, and all these professional loaded up on the Cincinnati/Colorado game - one had 5 players from both teams in his 9 man lineup- and a water main broke, canceled the game and all their players were inactive because once the lineup is set, you can't change it. It essentially eliminated every "professional" fantasy league player in the room. The guy that won used a tried and true approach. They asked him if he kept a spreadsheet of stats or wrote algorithm's to determine probabilities and he said , "no, I just look for guys that hit well against the starting pitchers". I don't think he knew anymore about baseball than a 14 year old kid.

kind of blows that whole "game of skill" argument out the water (main)
