AA's "Mike Price was never the Head Coach at Alabama" Thread

Just read Price's espn bio posted after his recent retirement and it mentioned his brief tenure as head coach of Alabama-Tuscaloosa.

Although the thread title is obviously incorrect, one can have sympathy for the attempt to erase such a sad chapter in the history of a once proud program. Penn State wil certainly attest to that sentiment.

Price was hired in December 2002 and fired in May 2003 without coaching an official game. He is not included in the official list of coaches because of this fact. [10]

Funny thing how nobody expected the Price hire to be a glorious failure, yet people are on guard about a Lane Kiffin flame-out.

You just never know. Kiffin may settle in nicely and the tide may win 5 or 6 more national championships in the next two or three years.

IIRC, one of the reasons for Mike Price's dismissal as Alabama's Head coach was he used his University of Alabama credit card to pay for his "date with Destiny." My questions have always been:

1.) how could he be fired from a job he never had, and

2.) why would the University of Alabama issue a credit card to a non-employee?
