I need to tread carefully here. Not sure what is proper code on commenting on the daughters of fellow posters here...

Hilton Head is a favorite of my wife's and we go at least once every two years. It is nice except I hate that you have to always drive to go anywhere. The commercial areas are so separated from the residences. I know a lot of people like that, but I'm not one of them.

Our place is on South Forrest Beach. We can walk to everything we need except Harbor Town. Coligny is right down the road.

Laird Hamilton shoots the pier in Malibu, but the best part is the end of the video...

I thought this was cool

This island didn't exist a couple of years ago - volcanic eruption has created it. Its off the coast of Japan

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Real pretty. The color of the salt water around the new island looks like what you see of the volcanic water in Yellowstone.

I have no idea how long it will take for that island to have vegetation and water that will support life around it.
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

That is an excellent question. How long would it take? I suppose you'd have to start with rainwater and it would have to collect in areas where the acid from the molten lava wouldn't destroy the life-giving qualities of it. And the lava would have to break down to just enough crappy soil to grow.... weeds? I don't know what else would grow, but the seeds for those weeds would have to blow in from the air (over many miles of ocean water) or nothing grows there. But that is an outstanding question.

We have an incredible opportunity here for science students from universities all around the world to see how life developed from the very beginning, albeit from a tiny, isolated standpoint.
