The granny was obviously a professional voice actor. It was almost comical how obvious it was that it couldn't be a real fan or grandma or grandma fan or whatever. It was like a 25 year old chick doing a grandma voice.

"When I first started, all you would see would be [University of Texas] sweatshirts on all the kids," Clancy said. "When you see high school football players wearing sweatshirts now, you see Alabama, you see LSU, you see Auburn and you especially see [Texas] A&M. You would never have seen a kid in Texas wearing an Alabama sweatshirt before A&M joined the SEC. When I was at OSU, Dallas and Houston were still Big 12 country. Now with all the success the SEC has had, those places are becoming more and more SEC territory."

SEC Network not taking off as fast as ESPN wanted

http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingham/b ... avent.html

Maybe because they are asking for an extremely high amount right out of the gate? And other than opening weekend, the games being shown are not that great? The best game of Week 2 is Arkansas State vs. Tennessee

May be worthy of some discussion

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... ll-success

The NFL Draft tells a revealing story. During the first eight drafts of the BCS era from 1999 to 2006, the SEC had 49 NFL first-round picks compared to 47 for the Big Ten. The Big Ten equaled or surpassed the SEC in first-round picks in four of those eight years.

The final eight years of the BCS were a landslide. First-round picks: SEC 74, Big Ten 32. Or to put it another way, Alabama, LSU and Florida combined to have more first-round picks since 2007 than the entire Big Ten.

Facts like these make me believe that demographic change is blown up to be much more important than it really is. You can't explain a sudden, almost overnight change in the talent gap between the two conference by pointing at demographics. It's also not like the Midwest was especially booming during 1998-2006.

Obviously the Nick was hired in 2007 but what else is the SEC or Big10 doing differently since 2007 that explains how the talent gap has gotten so wide? Because it wasn't wide at all in the late 90's/early 2000s

The B1G is kinda ....stale, at least in the kids' minds. Us winning so many NCs in a row, and ESPN's coverage, along with the resurgence of Alabama all contributed.

In other words, know your role, jabroni.

There's been a decline in Big10 coaching to a certain extent. I think SEC coaching has gotten a lot BETTER overall more than the Big10's has gotten worse, however.

AA's SEC Power Rankings, Week 1:

1. TAMU. The Aggies just didn't beat the Cocks, they emasculated them. People who know football, know Sumlin can coach. He took Houston to three bowls in four years before moving to College Station, where Johnny Football and a few others have wrongly gotten the credit for TAMU's success - where now it's Kenny Football setting records and getting credit.

2. Georgia. They played rope-a-dope with Clemson for two quarters before overpowering them. If Georgia stays healthy, watch out.

3. Auburn. They struggled with the Razorbacks early, but one never got the impression that the Tigers were in any real danger. The Auburn read option is hard for modern defenses to cover because the best defense to stop it is a vanilla Oklahoma 5-2 or an old wide-tackle 6, which hasn't been played or practiced since I was in HS. Rival teams better dust off some 1977 play books, though.

4. LSU. The Tigers struggled with the Badgers early, but -in the end- won the battle, through attrition and adjustments. Don't let the affable Les fool you: he has talent and depth and he and his his assistants can coach.

5. Ole Miss. The Rebs made easy work of Boise State. They have talent and are hungry. They will win at least a couple of games they shouldn't this year.

6. MissState. I know it was SoMiss, but the Starkvegas Dawgs were solid in every aspect of the game. UAB is an up-and-comer that will cause them a headache or two, but they should win by a couple of scores.

7. Alabama. The offense was fine, but the defense, despite only allowing two second half field goals, and only one offensive TD in the first half, was eaten up between the 20's.

8. Tennessee. The Vols may deserve to be ranked ahead of Bama for what they did to Utah State.

9. Kentucky. Yes, Kentucky. Yes, it was a weak opponent, but here are signs that they have improved dramatically.

10. Mizzou. Kind of a yawner, but a win. The Tigers appear to be a decent team though.

11. South Carolina. Completely outmatched by the Aggies. The thing is, they won't be the only team this year to say that. Unfortunately have to drop them here, though.

12. Arkie. There are signs of improvement, but Bielema will have to win a game or two to get his team off the cellar steps.

13. Vandy. Sigh, Vandy...

Not ranked: Florida. The weather won the opener. Will be interesting to see how the gators schedule this game (Oct 25 is open, but no rest?), or do you short the season a game?

That isn't sandbagging. If Wva had been able to punch it in for more than one offensive TD instead of kicking 32 FGs, we'd be talking about the 'shocking Bama loss' right now. The HUNH is Saban's Kryptonite, and he has to adjust, adapt, and improvise. I trust that he will, but his success, at best, is delayed.

Trickett completed 29 passes for 365 yards. We made him look like Jameis or Manziel, and I don't think he is as talented as either of those guys.

I ranked both Kentucky and Tennessee below Bama. Further, this ranking has exactly one game's info to go on. It is completely based on who was played and the performance issued against said team. Previous seasons' results are not considered.

It's not that hard. Really. If you disagree with the methods and parameters, perhaps you should make a ranking yourself, or stfu. Or -if possible- both.
