Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Well, if Skeeter says it, it must be true. Although, I would feel more confident if 'Bubba' and 'Skillet' would weigh in.

Or Cletus, maybe.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
That sounds good about Marlin Lane. However, I'm still concerned about the defensive side of the ball. It still seems like we have a major lack of depth with us being one or two injuries away from a ruined season. Not like we are going to win the National Championship this year anyway...

U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Game should have ended on their penalty anyway, instead of rewarding them for it with an extra timeout.

hehehehe On the surface, I tend to agree. Funny thing is the A-train is on a path to be one of the greatest 'backs ever to play in the NFL if his first season is an indication of his long term success. He didn't do @#$% for us when he was a Vol. I was actually a bit suprised when he was drafted.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I was somewhat surprised, too, even though I wouldn't say he didn't do shit as a Vol. He is the #2 rusher in school history after all. But no one who saw Jamal in his prime at UT would ever argue that Foster is above him on the list of all-time Vol greats. He rushed for a mere 287 yards more than Jamal, despite playing all 4 years. Jamal played fewer than 3 full seasons due to a career-threatening knee injury and leaving early for the NFL. While I cheer for former-Vols in the NFL and love to see them have success as professionals, it's what they did on Rocky Top that matters most to me.Orangefreak wrote:Hacksaw wrote:Dumbest. Comment. But as for the NFL, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Foster has had 1 great season. I hope that it is an indication of how the rest of his career will be. But only 20 players in the entire history of the NFL have more career rushing yards than Jamal Lewis, despite the fact that he played only 9 years in the league. With the exception of Jim Brown (who also played just 9 seasons), every player above Lewis on the all-time rushing list had longer careers. Most played at least 2-3 more seasons. Emmitt Smith, the all-time leader, played 15! Lewis' career yards/carry average is as good or better than about half of the guys above him on the all-time rushing list. Lewis is one of only 6 players in NFL history to have rushed for more than 2,000 yards in a single season (he is second only to Eric Dickerson for most yards in a season). So Foster will have to stay healthy and have a lot more seasons like the one he had last year to be compared favorably with Lewis.

1. Arian was a lot better than Jamal. Just ask Foster'smom.Hacksaw wrote:Dumbest. Comment. Ever.GBJs wrote:Best running back since Jamal Lewis???

2. I absolutely agree with your later comments re... what happened at college is more important to you. It's nice to see former players do well in the league, but what they accomplished and the way they went about it at UA is much more enjoyable to me. McElroy is now one of my favorite qbs at UA. Will he have a "great" pro career? Probably not. But he accomplished quite a bit at UA, and was a grand ambassador for the university.
