Also, re water: in my area, we have to pay for water and sewer and they will cut it off if you don't pay that bill. Same thing with power.

There are charitable funds that will help you pay your bills, if you're poor enough, but I had a rental property where my tenant assumed I was paying the water (the contract stipulated that he was responsible) , so he threw away the notices and they cut him off.

If Bergdahl is half as dishonorable as is being reported, this trade for the top Taliban leaders at Gitmo is ridiculously one-sided.

Never send a college professor to negotiate with the Hell's Angels.

If he's TWICE as dishonorable - so what?

We're looking to sign a formal treaty ending the war. Once hostilities end, you have to charge those guys or let them go under international law. If we were going to charge them, we would've done so already.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

i.e. At this point, what does it matter.

Not quite - more like a diminishing return. Say you have a $250.00 gift card for Morton's that expires tonight and they've run out of filet mignon. Do you leave and come back tomorrow when they get their shipment? Maybe - but that gift card won' be any good. OTOH, you can order the ribeye, the porterhouse, the strip, the crab or the lobster and get something with the gift card.

McCain was for a Bergdahl swap before he was against it.

McCain really does need a keeper. The Febuary CNN video where he's all in favor of swapping prisoners to free Bergdahl now runs alongside his current foam-at-the-mouth denunciations of the deal. And now it comes to light that the VA Phoenix whistleblower came to him last Feb. 7th with the information that broke last month and was turned away.

It's as if he spends his days clipping coupons or looking for lost keys until someone puts him in front of a mic with a subject he can spit and shake his fist at.

http://time.com/2826534/bowe-bergdahl-taliban-captors/

"...Besides our field commanders and fighters, our leader Mullah Mohammad Omar is so happy and is anxiously waiting to see his heroes,” he says."

"There was some disgruntlement among Taliban ranks over the terms, admits the Kandahar commander. Some members wanted a ransom payment for Bergdahl, in addition to the release of the Guantanamo detainees. But the leadership prevailed. “We told them that these five men are more important than millions of dollars to us,” he says. He was more tolerant of complaints from Taliban foot soldiers that pointed out that for all the celebrations surrounding the officials’ release, there was no reward or recognition for the Taliban fighters who captured Bergdahl in 2009. But that’s not likely to get in the way of future attempts to kidnap American soldiers, across all ranks.

Asked whether the Taliban would be inspired by the exchange to kidnap others, he laughed. “Definitely,” he says. “It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people. It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.”

I give McCain credit, however: he HATES Obama and it is clearly personal. If Obama says it's raining, McCain will hold a press conference in a thunderstorm and talk about Obama's discrimination against American precipitation and the farmers who need it.

Reportedly, the two had a decent relationship/mutual respect as colleagues in the Senate, but it's become a blood feud for McCain.

What is even MORE impressive is the GOP's ability to move in lockstep and get EVERYONE of their people to backtrack to keep Obama from getting any positive recognition. If Obama were to lay hands on a dying cancer patient and heal them, Patriotic Oncologists For Truth would be out that evening with ads saying: 1) The person never really had cancer, 2) Obama actually made the person sicker and 3) Obama is illegally practicing medicine and putting American oncologists out of business.

Incredible! It's almost as if they have banded together as a group in order to achieve common goals through the acquisition and exercise of political power!

Even when those common goals are the refutation of empirical truth, harming the general welfare of the people in support of a small group of oligarchs and supporting sedition/fomenting revolution by pursuing an agenda of race baiting under the thinly veiled guise of "State's Rights," "cutting taxes," etc.?
