Junk Science, part 256:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/08/us/fl ... .html?_r=0
MIAMI BEACH — The sunny-day flooding was happening again. During high tide one recent afternoon, Eliseo Toussaint looked out the window of his Alton Road laundromat and watched bottle-green saltwater seep from the gutters, fill the street and block the entrance to his front door.
“This never used to happen,” Mr. Toussaint said. “I’ve owned this place eight years, and now it’s all the time.”
Down the block at an electronics store it is even worse. Jankel Aleman, a salesman, keeps plastic bags and rubber bands handy to wrap around his feet when he trudges from his car to the store through ever-rising waters.
A new scientific report on global warming released this week, the National Climate Assessment, named Miami as one of the cities most vulnerable to severe damage as a result of rising sea levels. Alton Road, a commercial thoroughfare in the heart of stylish South Beach, is getting early ripples of sea level rise caused by global warming — even as Florida’s politicians, including two possible contenders for the presidency in 2016, are starkly at odds over what to do about it and whether the problem is even real.

During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Miami Beach sounds like it has a subsidence problem like New Orleans or Venice, not a climate change problem.

The guy in the article claims that he's owned his property for 8 years and that this never used to happen, but now its all the time. I would think that indicates either a land use change or some kind of subsidence that has allowed the tides to come in rather than blaming what is maybe a cm or so change in sea level. One that went undiscovered from 1896 to 2012?

Global absolute sea level has risen about an inch in the last 8 years, according to the left wing eco-terrorists at NASA. Relative sea level, however, along the Gulf of Mexico and Mid-Atlantic states has risen at twice that rate. If a 2" rise in sea level means the tide on a 1% slope will go 5 yards further, on a smaller slope or flatland it could go a quarter mile.aTm wrote:The guy in the article claims that he's owned his property for 8 years and that this never used to happen, but now its all the time. Lake Superior is still over 60 percent covered in ice as of yesterday Saturday April 26, 2014. The satellite pictures shown above were the latest I could find that had clear skies and good vision of the ice. These high resolution satellite images come from April 23 and April 24, 2014.
On Wednesday April 23, 2014 Lake Superior had 68 percent ice cover. According to the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, the previous highest amount of ice on that date was in 1979 when there was 38 percent ice cover.
