Would love for Floater to drop in. He owes me.

Rex tweeting that Cal going to the Lakers has fans in a tizzy.

I almost wish UK had won. It would have been a great story but the UConn storyline is pretty good, too.

Calhoun did not look terribly happy.

How do you give the 6th foul with a minute left and 20 on the shot clock but then not give the 7th foul and play defense so there is 20 seconds let even in you get the stop your still down 4. They should not of given the 6th foul.

I am not sure who is a worse basketball coach Roy or Cal, but they are both garbage and really have zero understanding of end of game situations.

Oh well, I guess you can still count the recruiting title for this year. Skippy...

UK fans will now be doing the equivalent of rushing the court, and this time after a loss, ironically enough. The team set the bar so low (for UK fans, anyway) thru the regular season that just making it to the title game is now a huge accomplishment. And of course, it always is, but we're talking about UK fans here, who always (or so I've heard) "expect to win." And this was certainly a game that was not only winnable, but they were favored, as they should've been. Again, for any other program, even Carolina, the fans would be happy for an NC appearance (unless it was like a Houston/NCState or G'Town/Nova situation). And I'm sure UK fans are delighted as well. But that's not the attitude UK fans used to have. It was win or bust, joy or misery, but not this year. They're just gosh darn proud to be there, that's way more than they expected, that's good enough. Cal has basically turned UK into UNC...

UK had a great run. They just ran into another mighty AAC buzzsaw. Last 3 of 4 champs are AAC teams (at least until this morning. Not sure when the Cards actually bolt). Sorta funny. The AAC?

Kevin Ollie is a great story. Probably got the job because no coach of note wanted any part of the banned program or small conference. Now he has as many national championships as Jim Boeheim.

I think Cal has proven beyond a doubt that the OAD model is not only viable but probably gives you the best chance to win it all. Aside from one bust season (which wasn't going to be much better even if their best player hadn't gone down), UK has been in the mix every year since Cal's arrival. That's really all you can ask for...

the doubt has to do with the grad rates to maintain eligibility. But that's not his problem. He won't be around when that bill comes due.

I just wonder if his curse will be winning with Calhoun players.

They hit every free throw in the game so Cal decided to try to get two scores

Cal is not a good coach, by any stretch, but whoever told him to switch to zone halfway thru the 1st made a good call.

Antigua and Strickland to USF...wonder if Worldwide Wes approves of the move to LA?

God Bless UConn. UConn has done more good for college basketball than any other program over the past fifteen years. Keeping Dook and UK from national championships is The Lord's good work.
I proudly took AFAM 040 at Carolina.

"They hit every free throw in the game so Cal decided to try to get two scores"

Bilas was talking about that this morning, the problem was, why foul with under a minute to go when the other team isn't in the bonus and reset the shot clock if you're determined to play it out and try to get a stop?

When Harrison missed the 3 that would have given UK the lead with still quite a bit of time left (maybe 6 or 7 min), that was the first indication that the script was about to change. Until that point, UK had followed the same script from its past 4 games: play so-so, fall behind in the first but rally before halftime to get momentum before finally grabbing the lead semi-late, letting the other team back in and snatching it away.

But Napier hit a big stop-and-pop from about 15 ft, UK couldn't hit that big 3 late and UConn made its free throws and that was it.

UK had a great run and was pretty fun to watch (inasmuch as I can stand to watch what college hoops has become). There's some kids who will making a lot of money in the NBA for years on that team and Young's dunk was as impressive as any I've ever seen.

But in the end, UConn was just tougher than any other team and tougher than UK last night. Forget about the seedings, UConn certainly is a deserving national champion, just as UK would have been if it won.

I feel bad for my friends in here (sort of), but the rival in me is glad UK didn't win last night...
