It looks like Jacob Coker will be taking his talents to Tuscaloosa.

Coker was an underrated 3 star QB from Alabama in a run based offense with no major offers until Fisher liked what he saw. After that, he began getting other offers (including Bama). He went to FSU and sources say he was VERY close to winning the starting job over Jameis Winston...Winston had a better Spring but Coker was outstanding in Fall camp. Noted QB coach Randy Sanders has said he's never seen a QB with his size and skill set...

He didn't show much in mop up duty last season but I think he has a lot of talent, and I think he could pair nicely with Lane Kiffen. It remains to be seen if he can beat Blake Sims, et al, for the starting nod but I hope he succeeds and would love to meet him in the playoffs next season.

"Randy Sanders has said he's never seen a QB with his size and skill set..."

Never? And this guy was only a 3 star recruit? Sounds like hyperbole...

Oh, I'm sure it's hyperbole - sort of a present for being a quality guy in the program and hopes that he has future success. Though I suspect with his talent, he would have been a 4 star recruit in a different system (wing T in high school).

The exact quote was:
Asked if Coker's arm is even better than Winston, the resident Heisman winner, Sanders paused for a few breaths before saying, "Coker's arm is kind of at a different level. Jameis has a very special arm, and this isn't any knock against Jameis, but Jake's probably the best I've seen in 25 years at throwing it."
That's not hard to believe in comparison to Winston, who has shown a very strong arm in baseball but in football his best attributes are decision making and accuracy, not necessarily arm strength. Most of the QBs he tutored in Knoxville and Lexington were not known as having the strongest arms either.

Coker also has very good speed for a 6'5" kid.

from what I saw of Coker in spring and pre-season he is a scosh slower on the decision to throw than Jameis - otherwise all is equal

Signing Day is fast approaching and between commitments and current scholarship players, Nick is once again well over the roster limit. It basically breaks down to Bama having to cut 7 guys or convince commits already on campus to take a greyshirt. It's enough to even make some Bama fans squeamish

Love some justifying this by saying it's all done with the best interest of the players at heart...LMAO

Fear not. All the non-hackers on Saban's squad will get injured as ordered. It's a venerable part of The Process.

But this year, Tennessee is the national champion of oversigners. They had 33 last time I checked. They must plan on counting some of them towards Johnny Majors' classes.

The SEC alum Ron Zook wasn't able to whip B10 Illinois into shape. I don't think Midwestern guys appreciate Chargers and free suits like Alabamian dudes do.

The SEC voted to allow 4-year scholarships just a couple years ago. Alabama was one of the schools who voted against it (Tennessee did too)

What do 4 yr schollies have to do with it? ANY university can withdraw a scholarship at any time. At least the ones who really bust their ass at UA get a medical so they can complete their degree.

The Zooker at least made the Illini somewhat respectable, and talent wasn't their shortcoming. Much like AU under Chiz in 11 and 12...

15? Sounds like trophy jealousy to me.

And he didn't make a big public goodbye like he did the last 4 or 5 times. His legendary colon may have finally passed its last.
