Actually, if the local/state gubments (vast majority dems) had used monies allocated for levy repairs/upgrades to do same, since, oh say the fifties, this would be a moot point. I guess the progressives of the fifties, sixties and seventies were resistant to change

....but please, carry on w/the dance, Tick needs a partner.

Oh, don't forget the pumps, installed below sea level, no back up.

One man's progressive is another's liberal.....one man's global warming is another's climate change. Keeping track of the language gets harder and harder.....still a moot point. Being as GWB was prez at the time, no research was necessary for the progressives(?) at the NYT. They had all the facts they needed.

Something else oprama failed to mention but should have: this year's two Super Bowl contenders come from the two states who legalized pot.

Here's hoping WA and CO have an ample supply of chicken wings and blue cheese dressing.

Do you believe every Republican is a conservative? I'm guessing no

Likewise, not every Democrat is a liberal/progressive. Particularly not Democrats in the South in the 1950's.

DHS is responsible for policing movie theft? That just doesn't sound right.

Of course not, but they are all racists and misogynists.

It could take a year to secure the risk of "high exposures" of personal information on the federal Obamacare online exchange, a cybersecurity expert told CNBC on Monday.

"When you develop a website, you develop it with security in mind. And it doesn't appear to have happened this time," said David Kennedy, a so-called "white hat" hacker who tests online security by breaching websites. He testified on Capitol Hill about the flaws of HealthCare.gov last week.

"It's really hard to go back and fix the security around it because security wasn't built into it," said Kennedy, chief executive of TrustedSec. "We're talking multiple months to over a year to at least address some of the critical-to-high exposures on the website itself."

Governor Scott Walker will propose $800 million in tax cuts Wednesday evening, representing most of the state's $912 million revenue surplus. Half of the cuts will be achieved through property tax reductions, and the other half will consist of lower payroll taxes, as well as lower income tax rates for the lowest state bracket.

"What do you do with a surplus? Give it back to the people who earned it. It's your money," Walker will tell the state legislature in his annual "State of the State Address," according to an excerpt released to the press. The tax cuts will be a core part of Walker's new budget for the state, entitled the "Blueprint for Prosperity."

Walker has presided over a remarkable turnaround in Wisconsin's finances. When he took office in 2011, the state was running a $3.6 billion deficit. One of his first acts was to pass a corporate tax cut, which Democrats derided as a giveaway to the rich, but which helped grow the local economy and attract businesses and jobs.

The collective bargaining reforms that Walker subsequently enacted, over vehement Democrat and union opposition, also helped state and local governments save money while preserving public sector jobs. To that achievement, Walker can now add a tax cut--something few other governors, even Republicans, have achieved.

Brando is leaving CBS. I wonder if the SEC Network is next for him as well.

Makes sense. "The iron is unkind" speaks to a lot of SEC basketball lately.
