Re: Uncle Bud
I like the conversational juxtaposition of Cletus doing and Ironman and BRM fixin to do his first pork butt roast. Indeed, this latter will be BRM's version of an Ironman. Seriously, I have eaten so much of a pork butt that I've gone into a pork coma. You just can't stop eating it...

Re: Uncle Bud
I'll try it this week.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Uncle Bud
I was talking to a girl in the bar last night. She said, "If you lost a few pounds,
had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right."
I said, "If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you."
***********
I was telling a girl in the pub about my ability to guess what day a woman was born just by feeling her boobs.
"Really" she said, "Go on then...try."
After about thirty seconds of fondling she began to lose patience and said, "Come on, what day was I born?"
I said, "Yesterday."
***********
I got caught taking a pee in the local swimming pool today.
The lifeguard shouted at me so loud, I nearly fell in.
***********
I went to the pub last night and saw a fat chick dancing on a table. I said, "Nice legs."
The girl giggled and said with a smile, "Do you really think so."
I said "Definitely! Most tables would have collapsed by now. "

Re: Uncle Bud
I will do so Hedge. Kroger basically has the meat on sale for almost half price now. I checked it out as I went to the store a bit ago and like a 9lb butt was like 12.00 or so. I will pick one up on Friday to make for the game on Saturday.

Re: Uncle Bud
well, he told me 12-16 hours a week when they started training in earnest and then he started talking about the total time of loading up the gear, driving to the training site, etc. and so then I suggested he was spending 20 total hours a week on prep and training.
I don't know if they were doing that every week from June to Oct. but I know these guys train a lot. They said the had done 5 or 6 century rides prior to the event and had run some 20-mile jaunts. But one guy is the wellness director at the Y, another owns his own well-digging business and the 3rd is an engineer for Walter Kidde. The last guy has 3 kids, including a 6-month old, so he was burning the candle at both ends.
I think it's all a little over the top but more and more people are digging the tri.

Re: Uncle Bud
That training load sounds right. I'm sure I spent on average 20 hours per week when you include all the prep time, traveling to wherever I was working out, etc. My long rides were 6.5 to 7 hours but when you include the drive to and from and getting all my shit together, it was closer to a 9 hour day. I ended up doing a lot of my rides in my basement on the trainer. I watched a lot of good TV when I was training for these things.Saint wrote:well, he told me 12-16 hours a week when they started training in earnest and then he started talking about the total time of loading up the gear, driving to the training site, etc. and so then I suggested he was spending 20 total hours a week on prep and training.

Re: Uncle Bud
Yeah. Working at home yesterday and today also. Fuck that sub zero bullshit getting out and trying to drive to work. I did however get one of the vehicles out of the driveway yesterday to make a grocery store run and the roads were still shit at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. And it had stopped snowing Sunday evening. The wind and cold means the plows and salt can't do shit. Schools have been closed for two days, not sure about Wednesday yet. I guess it just depends on what the roads look like. I will most likely venture out today again to see what it is like so I can plan for tomorrow.

It could be the darkest days of the battle of Stalingrad and BRM is still going to make a grocery store run...

Re: Uncle Bud
I was leaving a meeting last night about 8:30 and intended to go to the grocery that was less than a mile away to pick up a pork butt but it being -7 during the short walk from the building to my car changed my mind. No way was I going to walk the length of the parking lot at Kroger just to get a pork butt. Pasta tonight.
