Eventually Mike Slive will either die or retire and then the SEC can get back to actually hating each other instead of this kumbaya, all for one and one for all bullshit.

For closure - SEC finishes it's 'down' season 7-3 in the bowls and a whisker from the NC. We'll muddle through. Conference hoops play starts tonight.

I hear the Big BB teams have patterned their style of play after the SEC.

"SEC finishes it's 'down' season 7-3 in the bowls and a whisker from the NC."

And a whisker from 6-4 with one of those losses at the hands of Dook. And yet SEC fans are touting a massive come from behind win by a conference newbie as some kind of glorious victory for the SEC. Disgraceful. But at least Mississippi St. made short work of mighty Rice in yet another scintillating victory for the SEC. Woo-hoo...

The Washington Generals have won 3 Final Four titles in the last 10 years?

I don't recall using 'glorious' or any term like it. One can rationalize his way around most of those games to whatever conclusion suits him.

You are correct. One perspective might be that in 3 of the SEC's bowl games, both opponents were unranked. The SEC team won all 3, including their two most impressive (by far) victories, at least in terms of score, i.e., MSU over Rice and Vandy over Houston, both by double digits. Ole Miss managed to handle Ga Tech by 8.

In two of the SEC's contests, the SEC team was ranked and their opponent was not. LSU managed to beat Iowa by 7, while Georgia lost to Nebraska.

Of the remaining 5 games where both teams were ranked, the SEC team was the higher ranked team in all contests save the FSU / Auburn game, The SEC went 3-2 in these games. USC and Mizzou chalked up impressive wins (10 pts each) against somewhat comparable opponents, while TAMU needed a furious second half rally to squeak by Dook. Mighty Alabama lost to #11 OSU and Auburn lost to FSU in what was unarguably one of the great bowl games ever.

Solid overall performance for the conference...

One year bowl records are much too small a sample size. Here is the last 10 years...

SEC: 45-31 (0.592)
Pac XX: 34-28 (0.548)
Big 12: 41-36 (0.532)
ACC: 36-44 (0.450)
Big Ten: 27-47 (0.365)
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

A&M was ranked #20, and Duke was #22. Why did you suddenly swerve away from the term "comparable opponents?" And even though we're talking about similarly ranked teams, Duke was the 3rd best team in the ACC at worst while A&M was 6th best SEC team at best. Even in your games where you claim the SEC is favored, they are usually going up against a team higher ranked in the other conference than the SEC team is in the SEC.

Sadly that fact didn't help their ACC opponents (some of whom Duke thrashed) this year.
