Right after Global Warming scientists have to be rescued from an ice-bound ship in Antarctica, there's this:

'Polar vortex' set to bring dangerous, record-breaking cold to much of US

http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2014/01/ ... latestnews
"We usually don't call something 'life threatening,'" he told FoxNews.com. "But yes, we want people to know that this is very much a life-threatening event."

Simosko urged people in the region to stay indoors when the temperature sinks. He said it is a rare event to see ground temperatures around the minus 25 degree mark combined wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour.

Meanwhile, some cities saw record lows on Friday. In Wisconsin, a record low temperature was set in Green Bay, where the mercury dipped to minus 18. The National Weather Service said that topped the 17-below-zero mark last recorded in 1979.

Sunday's playoff game in Green Bay could be among one of the coldest NFL games ever played. Temperatures at Lambeau Field are expected to be a frigid minus 2 degrees when the Packers and San Francisco 49ers kick off, and by the fourth quarter it'll be a bone-chilling minus 7, with wind chills approaching minus 30, according to the National Weather Service.
Think how much worse it would be without global warming.

The tobacco industry used to make cute graphs like that, all proving use of their product was harmless. It was all "scientific" too, and paid for by RJR inc. They were just as unbiased as "the consensus project."

Yes, but think about all the good that has come from the billions extorted from said industry.....once everybody comes around to the correct consensus re: global warming, think how much better off we'll all be when the same type money is transferred from us to third world countries and Al gore. I, for one, will be relieved that I no longer have to worry about selling my Miami beach condo.

They've already targeted the coal industry for destruction.

How to piss off the neighbors...hopefully there's enough tree-huggers amongst'em to make it worthwhile. heh

Neighbors Complain About Smoke from Coal Furnace, by 6news Maria Miller 10/6/2013

Elmora, Pa.-- People in the small community of Elmora, Cambria County told 6 News that one of their neighbors is smoking out the entire town every time he fires up his outdoor coal furnace. But township supervisors are at odds because technically, they say, he's not breaking any ordinance.

"I had the permit in hand," said Tom Bensor. "I wouldn't do nothing without the permit."

Bensor said he applied for a permit in West Carroll Township and got the go-ahead last year before installing an outdoor coal furnace in his back yard. But now he said he's been told he can't have it.

"My question is, if the township knew it was going to be a problem, why did they give me a permit in the first place?"

6News talked with township supervisor Drew Basset, who said the township does have an ordinance against any outdoor furnace now, but said it wasn't created until after Benson installed his. Technically, when it comes to the township, Bensor's not violating any ordinances but neighbors say he's not giving them any consideration.

"It's a pretty quiet neighborhood until the smoke rolls in," said Melody Polisky, who lives a few houses down. "It's a heavy white smoke and it's choking sometimes." Several neighbors shared the same thoughts and gave 6News pictures that they said show the smoke linger through their small town.

"You can't open the windows," said Polisky. "My sister in law lives up the road and she can't go outside at all."

Bensor said the Department of Environmental Protection has already warned him to stop using the furnace, but he told 6News:

"I'm going to fire it. I have no choice, I can't afford $3/gallon for oil."

It's a sad state of affairs when you can get arrested for burning coal in PENNSYLVANIA of all places. This story sounds more like California.

I had an annoying neighbor once and considered building an apiary near the property line close to his backyard patio.

Sardis-

In your link, the conservative blogger found 5 scientists who believed their work had been mis-characterized. This out of over 11,000 studies used in the poll. That seems extremely small if the numbers are wildly off

Would you in any way concede that the vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is occurring (without considering the human question)?

Fluctuations in climate have happened since the dawn of time, yes, it's still happening and will continue.

The earth has cooled and warmed with and without the existence of humans.

At one time or another during the 70's Time also endorsed stack shoes, disco, the Betamax, Air Supply, rollerblades and the Chevy Chevette.

Interestingly, Time never predicted an ice age or any kind of cooling period. That article (The Cooling of America) dealt with the energy crisis of '79 brought about by OPEC oil disruption, leading to skyrocketing fuel prices. Nitwit skeptics (re: toe) misuse that magazine cover fairly regularly.

The best one is the hoax article:

A pretty good juxtapose, except the cover on the left is 100% fake. Here's the real one:

I like the small headline on the fake cover: "Why We Can't beat the Soviets". Should have been a tipoff that this was made by a tea party conservative version of the Onion
