I was actually thinking about that. EVERY President since the proliferation of television (and therefore, TV media/journalism) had his scandal hit in his second term. Nixon, Reagan, Clinton and Bush 43 (I can't remember if LBJ had any really big scandal, but he didn't do two full terms on his own, either) all had scandals that marred their Presidency (ended their Presidency in Nixon's case) in the second 4 years. Maybe it's the realization that you don't have to campaign anymore that makes these men loosen up and get reckless with their power? I don't know...but we'll see how President Obama handles it.

normally I would have blown it off, but Ron Paul (his email service) sent me the link

to me it confirms what I thought all along when Rand endorsed Romney - Rand is going to walk the GOP walk, and selectively pick his issues to avoid controversy. He has started his own PAC that funds GOP , Libertarian and Independent candidates that the GOP abandons (for example taking extreme positions or falls out of favor by not touting the party line). He'll do his best to avoid land mines while quietly collecting a huge support base and IOU's from various party members, as well as the power of Jim DeMint and Tea Party candidates.

If he does get elected, he'll go full bore Ron Paul on foreign policies and maybe 60% on domestic.

I cant agree with that premise. I feel like that kind of thing is more commonplace than a "last term scandal marring the presidency" I think the Abu Graib photos were probably a bigger deal in terms of real scandal type attention, but of course that was a 2004 (so it was first term) election issue and he was reelected anyway. There was no Reagan, Nixon, Clinton type scandal under W in his second term.

Abu Graib was penned on low level servicemen. That wasn't a Presidential scandal. People wanted to impeach Bush on the torture shit and Obama declined and said "let's move on." If you don't call that a scandal, then we should remove Clinton off the list too.
