Apple are complete dicks about creating stuff that is only for iphone and not industry standards.

With internet speeds being what they are, bluetooth having come as far as it has, wifi frequencies having advanced so far with 6 and soon 6e, and inductive charging having come as far as it has, I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPhone be portless soon.

Apple did one thing right: they did bring back MagSafe for the MacBook Pro 14/16 (and new Air's), and I love that thing. It has saved my ass twice already when a Thunderbolt/USB-C plug would have probably stayed in and pulled the laptop off of my desk.

Having a HDMI port on the side again is nice too.

There's probably some thermodynamic law of energy that limits it, but if they could figure out some way to get, say, 100 miles worth of electrical energy out of a gallon of gas, the worm would start to turn away from gas powered (directly gas powered) cars. That and making them lighter, smaller and able to hold more of a charge. It's certainly easy to imagine at some point in the future a battery the size of your current car battery (or smaller) that will get you 1000 miles b/w charges and zero to 60 in 3 seconds. That's what's going to kill gas powered cars, not some ostensibly altruistic desire to stop climate change or whatever. People just want to be able to maaaiiiish the gaaaiiiisss and go...
