What constitutes "similar" I don't know. The Paris Agreement was a start.

So, is your position that if the world's biggest carbon emitters keep going, then the US should, as well?

It is definitely something more than pneumonia. FDR redux.

yes

I could give an elaborate explanation as to why but I think its pretty self explanatory.

The US should show strong leadership on this issue and do what is both necessary and correct. The other countries may or may not follow (I suspect they will eventually) but that should have no bearing on the decision to do the right thing. Plus, if we make a concerted effort to cut back on carbon based fuel, we'll be forced to make real investment in alternative energy sources and we could be the economic leader in that sphere. Figuring out an affordable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels is the next race to the moon and the US should win that race. But, we probably won't and that will be a huge missed opportunity.

China gets about 70% of its domestic energy from coal and their carbon footprint is about equivalent to the U.S., Russia and India combined. Its probably more since I'm going by 2011 numbers. What is eventually?

Actually, your position probably looks more like the Biblical position, caretakers of the earth, etc.

My perspective is more from growing up in a coal mining family in W. Pa and seeing how negatively communities are impacted. I know eventually fossils fuels will be phased out with innovation and that people have to change; however, the acceleration, as a result of this administrations aggressive regulations on coal power plants, are inhumane.

"Obama has now commuted more sentences than the last nine presidents combined."

He should commute nearly all drug-related sentences...

seems like Colin Powell has more to lose in this email hacking than anyone else. The man went turncoat on the GOP when Obama ran, but he lashing out against both sides.

He's dumped on Trump , mostly talking about how he doesn't connect with people, but then he got caught saying this about the Clintons

“I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect,” Powell told Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds in the email leaked on the site.

“A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still d—ing bimbos at home (according to the NYP),” Powell added."

I agree with Cletus.

Kudos to Gen. Powell for using the term "dicking down Bimbos" at his ripe age. Between that, and Jagger's baby at 72, I have a clear vision of the possibilities of my life.

pretty decent read on Milo.

I remember the falling out with the software developer Wu but I don't remember anything the story. I'm pretty sure I posted something about it here years ago.

Big difference between those commuted and those pardoned. Most of Obama's commutes are drug dealers from the 80s and 90s who got longer sentences than murderers. Got busted selling a handful of $5 pills and the taxpayers have been on the hook for room and board at a hundred thou per pill. Commutations save money yet the charges stick and the criminal is still tethered to the parole system. Whereas pardons wipe the slate clean.

Presidential pardons (source USDOJ):

Obama 67
Bush43 176
Clinton 456
Reagan 406
Carter 566
Ford 409
Nixon 926
LBJ 1187
JFK 575
Ike 1157
"OMG, this is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I AM FUCKED!"

Heh, and the number of sentences Obama has commuted is still only 348, less than the number of pardons (by far in most cases) than any president since Ike except Dubya. Leave it to 10ac to obfuscate the facts to serve his vague but nevertheless foul purposes...
