Re: UCLA Bruins
I dont think Snow is a Targaryeon. I'd have to re-read the chapter where Ned is going through the book of the great houses but I'm pretty sure all of the Targaryeon's have white hair. I think it's more likly that he's the issue of Robert and Ned's sister.

Re: UCLA Bruins
He's Rhaeger and Ned's sister's child. He's a Jon Snow, Aegon Snow. The question is who is the 3rd head of the dragon? For some reason I think its going to be Tyrion. Don't know if he is also going to have Targaryan blood as well may explain the mismatched eyes in the book and give greater reason why Tywin hates him so much) perhaps he's the Mad King's bastard with Tywin's wife.

"on a far more interesting note, apparently the actress who played Tyrion's tentwhore Shae has done a lot of hardcore pornos."

Re: UCLA Bruins
Man you gusy are just throwing the spoilers out even if it is just "fan speculation". I think its pretty clear what his parentage is from the books. If anybody is only watching the show, then they havent even gotten the big "possible hint" that it might not be Ned's kid, only that we dont know who the mother is.

Re: UCLA Bruins
All the most obvious "hints" were there in the first book, perhaps they didn' have those spoilers in the show, even though it coincides with the first book.
In the first book the author hits hard on how no one knows who the mother is even though there are numerous theories. Then they keep having Ned remember how he promised Lyssa without ever saying what he promised. Also in the first book he recalls his battle at the Tower of Joy. It was him and his seven vs three of the Kingsguard. Yet at the end of the battle Lyssa was dead. That makes no sense, neither of those groups would have killed her. Clearly she died in childbirth.

Careful, that's the attitude that got Khal Drogo all fucked up...Despite his wounds, Bean refused any medical attention and opted not to go to a hospital.

I thought all the Targaryeons in the book were said to have silver hair.

Re: UCLA Bruins
He takes after his mother. Unlike the Baratheons, I don't believe the Targs are explicitly stated as always siring kids with that color hair, etc. The products of incest of course would keep the same traits but I don't think the non incest ones necessarily do.

Re: UCLA Bruins
All that said...
until the ink officially dries & the secret is published no one can say 100% who the parents are
Martin has left himself enough wiggle room to maneuver it whichever way he pleases. Me personally, I'd wager that after catching wind that all the fanboys & fangirls are claiming Rhaegar & the stark girl as a matter-of-fact.... I'd flip the script and go a different route.
I just think it's funny you are claiming truth to this. At most, I've only ever seen a fansite lean heavily in one direction or the other.

If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it, then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Re: UCLA Bruins
Based on a few facts I think its likely that Jon Snow is intended to be the a play on the stereotypical "Fantasy-hero-who-does-not-know-he-is-actually-the-heir-to-the-throne." It also seems like the thing Martin would do, have that character and then write it so that he never actually finds out about it.

Re: UCLA Bruins
In the books, I'm not sure the Baratheons are "always" dark haired. Robert's bastards certainly seem to be all dark haired, but when Ned goes through the geneology book in the novel he specifically looks up several instances where a dark headed Baratheon was married to a blonde headed Lannister, rather than TV NEd who just goes down a long line of dark haired Baratheons.

Re: UCLA Bruins
There are a couple Targaryens in the Hedge Knight series of short stories by GRRM that don't have the typical silver haired look when they are are sons/daughter of a mixed marriage rather than a Targaryen/Targaryen incestual match.
