Saint wrote:So what's the difference between the people killed everywhere else in America by drug freaks? They don't think twice about killing, hurting, stealing their FELLOW American citizens. Why do the folks living in west or south Texas deserve a shitload of taxpayer money for their protection? And what happened to open carry? I thought we were about making our own way and shooting a fucker between the eyes if he looked like he (or she) was a no-good Mexican drug runner instead of calling 911.

Hey man, I get the problem but you're drawing arbitrary lines of protection and taxpayer expense and leaving it open-ended enough that anyone who wants protection is going to start whining about it and the next thing you know, the gov't and military is up in everyone's business. I know if you have family there (although if it's your wife's family that doesn't really count) and there's a concern but this is War on Drugs shit. You are not going to fix that problem by building a wall or even putting armed guards there 24/7. That's going to take a comprehensive plan that does or does not involve the Mexican gov't and will seek to destroy those cartels where they stand.

Or, as Hedge said, we could legalize it all and the problem pretty much goes anyway.

American

not American

that's the distinction.

The folks living in Texas or wherever deserve protection because the federal government ignoring enforcement of our laws brought them into harms way from foreigners on American soil.

You think a border wall will halt narcotrafficking?

So Sessions met with the Russians during the campaign. It was not offered during his Senate confirmation meetings.

It's obvious the leaks are being done after it becomes painfully clear the Executive branch will not be truthful with items. They leak weeks later...giving ample time for truth to come out. When the Executive branch openly denies, they leak the truth.

I don't feel sorry for this family. She's illegal. If they want to be together as a family, there is a way.

be careful what you wish for

At some point Trump will get control of these groups and then he's going to start retaliating.

I heard someone on CNN say that he has decided to review the email server issue on Hillary.

At this point I can only assume its punitive on his part. It won't be the last move he makes in that regard.

I doubt he has any desire to go back on Obama, but if Obama's holdovers are sabotaging Trump every chance they get, he will.

Speaking of emails, today is the 2 year anniversary of the breaking news wrt Hillary's personal email server. Brought to light by the failing New York Times, defacto head of the Fake News Media.

Also today, the NYT reports that the Obama administration preserved intelligence reports re: Trump campaign connections to the Russians, fearing they'd be quashed by the incoming Session's DOJ.

"There are human traffickers that would cut and run at the first sign of trouble and leave people to their own vices in remote country."

I wish someone would leave me to my own vices in a remote country. That's all I've ever wanted...

I love how marginal shit gets called an "epidemic" every time. A lot of overdoses are caused by tainted drugs. Legalize them and that problem disappears. There will still be OD's, of course (just as there are with prescription drugs, which is the cause of more OD deaths than heroin), but it would save lives. Nobody wants to talk about that, though. Seriously, though, as far as "epidemics" go, tobacco kills close to half a million people a year in the US, and no telling how many billions of dollars in health-related costs. Heroin kills 13,000. In other words, the number of deaths caused by tobacco by January 10th was more than the deaths caused by heroin for the entire rest of the year. But yeah, let's talk about the heroin "epidemic" and go right on allowing advertising for tobacco and massive federal subsidies for those who grow and sell it. I haven't looked, but I'm sure alcohol is the direct cause of far more deaths than heroin, and they advertise their product during the Super Bowl.

Seriously, if you don't care about alcohol and tobacco being legal (and nobody does, at all), then please save your outrage over some alarmist and fabricated "epidemic" of heroin or any other drug...

so you're argument is that the legalization of stuff that kills more people justifies the legalization of other stuff that will kill people?

Why not? Otherwise, it's just a random choice of what's allowed and what's not. And who gets to decide? Everyone should be able to make that kind of choice for themselves. Obviously if you're not worried about tobacco and alcohol being legal, what possible objection can you have against heroin or anything else? It can't be that it kills some of the people that use it, b/c you don't care about the massively higher number of people who die from the drugs that you don't mind being legal. So you have no argument in that regard. If it's a question of not wanting more people to start using it, I'll let the sometime hero of libertarians everywhere address that:

Looking at the CDC charts, it appears that OD deaths by benzodiazepines has gone from around 2000 in 2002 to 9000 in 2015. Oh my god! It's an epidemic!! Jesus, after reading these stats, I need a drink and a cigarette to calm my nerves...

I'm not worried about more people getting it - its so prevalent now if you want it you can get it, and I also don't believe it will be that much cheaper if legalized. Cheap and available is the problem now. Marijuana is not cheaper now that is it regulated.

I've seen that Ron Paul video and he's right, but that isn't my concern.

I don't have alcoholics breaking into my car to get a booze fix. I've been broken into 3 times in the past 4 years by what I can only assume are heroin addicts based on what the police tell me. I don't believe that goes away with legalization.

I also don't believe Mexican drug cartels go away with legalization.
