It would take a more diabolical mind than mine to figure out a way to kill someone by asphyxiation halfway in/out a basement window (hanging from a basement pipe while masturbating, entirely conceivable). Accidental death I could see if she was fleeing the house as an adulterer and the spouse made a surprise stop home, but even then you'd think that would be from the second story, not a basement.
