Well, he did have a gun...although most of the damage was done by the truck.

Statistics show half of the people who post here have most likely had a doctor treat them that was a first-generation Muslim. I don't know all the solutions to this extremist problem the globe is experiencing, but simply closing the borders to all travelers from certain regions, of certain faiths, or whatever will not make us a stronger nation, nor a safer nation.

I have never had a Muslim doctor. JEWISH DOCTORS FOR THE WIN!

And, kidding aside, I agree, a ban isn't the answer. Conversely, weakening immigration, border, and customs policies isn't the answer either. And with refugees, before even one is let in they need to be vetted and a viable plan for their success has to be in place. The last thing we need is the tent city of thousands of refugees like they have in France, namely in the so-called "Calais Jungle" and surrounding areas.

So, we're supposed to stamp out Islam? Other than the typical scared shirtless redneck reaction I don't see the point of insisting the entire religion is to blame. Of course the very concept of religion is to blame and the world would be better off without it but getting rid of all religions is as far-fetched as eradicating just one

it will make us safer. its common sense. We can't track the potential rogue terrorists we have now, why add to their numbers?

We are heading that way, though, but not because anybody is trying to get rid of it intentionally. I suspect 200 years from now the vast majority of people will either be atheist/agnostic or a member of something much less bureaucratic than any of the major organized religions. It's kinda like being a soccer fan...

1/2 mile from my house. They shot him at a Benny's Car wash, which I used to detail my car last week. Small world. I met both Alton Sterling and Officer Jackson at my barber.

I don't get how my post was cumbaya. It feels to me you're being reductionist. It feels to me no different than forcing people to take shoes off in the airport. It solves basically nothing and is not a real safety solution. AA is close to what I think would help, but the devil is in the details.

you tell me how we're just as safe by adding more potential terrorists on our own soil when we have an ineffective vetting process.

if we let 200K refugees into this country and say only 4 of them are radicalized - is that a number you can live with?

that's 4 people who would be actively planning to have a pressure cooker bomb, drive a truck into a crowd or shoot up a mall.

how do we tell the American people that's an acceptable risk just so we can all hold hands and talk about how enlightened we are as a nation. Reductionist, isolationist, islamaphobic - I'm way past caring about labels.

As our president once said when he looked teary eyed into the camera...if we can save one life.......

Where have I talked about adding more potential terrorists or letting in 200K refugees?

Yes, I 100% bellieve that SIMPLY closing the borders to ALL travelers from certain regions, of certain faiths doesn't help. It is not attainable nor sustainable. It would be a bureaucratic nightmare (yay, bigger government!). It would not even be able to be effectively enforced, considering the volume of countries Muslims can originate from with visas to the US.

I DO believe that IF we allow in refugees from war-torn countries where Islam is the predominate religion, then I would not feel comfortable unless there is a very strict and diligent vetting process and plan to make sure the absorption of these individuals is a success. That is what I took AA's point to be.

Hopefully that is clearer. I think your view is reductionist. If you feel safer taking your shoes off before you go through the body scanner at CVG, God bless. I know it means nothing and I'm more interested in the real things the TSA implements to help make my flight as safe as possible.
