Don't the state legislature have a say in how the money is spent or is it all up to the governor?

Why Republicans legislators are mad at Jindal when they all went along with him and voted for his budgets, I don't know? They don't own any mirrors I guess

they may see the writing on the walls....
A group of 51 New York millionaires wants lawmakers to raise taxes — on New York millionaires.
In a letter addressed to Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and state legislators, the group — working in conjunction with the left-leaning Fiscal Policy Institute and Responsible Wealth project — called for a permanent tax on the wealthy to replace a temporary one, with the revenue raised going to investments in poverty programs and infrastructure.
“In the spirit of shared sacrifice, we, the undersigned, call for a balanced solution that includes maintaining, expanding, and making permanent the top marginal income tax rates for upper-income New Yorkers like us who can afford to pay more,” the millionaires wrote in the letter, which was sent to lawmakers in Albany on Monday.
The signatories include some familiar names — Steven C. Rockefeller, Abigail Disney and leveraged buyout trailblazer Lewis Cullman.

51? There's probably 100,000+ millionaires in NYC. Now, if it was billionaires, that would be a good consensus.

Yeah, my office has about 60 people in it and I would there are easily 15 millionaires...and at least 4 who could write a million dollar check with less than 24 hours notice.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
How is it shocking or even slightly surprising that somebody who would do that has been involved with one of George Soros's outfits? Seems like a natural fit. But to say that she was directly "trained" by Soros? LMAO...

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I realize its a biased hit piece
but the real issue here is how the media is setting this up to the rest of the world
so instead of hundreds of protestors picketing a Donald Trump rally, it would probably be a handful of people who would respectfully keep their distance
but with Soros paying people to disrupt, they want the punch in the face, they want that exposure - and I question whether they are even committed to whatever they are protesting.
it can work both ways - send a bunch of Trump supporters to a Hillary Clinton rally and see how it turns out after the 4th or 5th time people drive 20- 100 miles and have to stand in line for an hour to get in only to deal with some asshat screaming Fuck Clinton in front of their kids.

I read yesterday that he had unsuccessful cancer surgery and he was being sent home for palliative care? I assume that similar to hospice although his family said it was not end of life care at this point.
I did not hear anything about his cancer until yesterday.

I really can't stand this guy from a sports journalist perspective, but I thought this was a great article about the Cuban exiles side of the issue.

I get it but I guess , especially being born after the Bay of Pigs, I have to ask why America has any obligation to Cuban Americans in regards to Cuban relations?
As he said, they are in exile here.

Masterful technique to downplay one's alcoholism by the Canadian mayor:
"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," Ford told reporters after he stepped off an elevator. "But, no, do I? Am I addict? No. Have I tried it? Probably in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago."
See, nobody is even thinking about the "drunken stupor" part of that statement...

Yes. Wouldn't blink. If my wife kept me alive for an extra three months when all is lost, I hope I come back as a fucking ghost to haunt her ass for that bullshit. Why waste the fucking money? Why put someone through that bullshit?Cletus wrote:YeseCat wrote: but what if its your wife? You going to let $50K stand between you and being with her 3 more months?
My wife's dumbass, entitled family (including her grandmother) all agreed on her grandmother having open heart surgery at the fucking age of 87. Goddamn. That's fucking selfish, wasteful and stupid. Now, she is a 94 year old who can't piss without someone helping, wipe her own ass or even remember what fucking flavor jello they gave her two hours ago in that overpriced but nicely decorated hellhole in which she resides over in Pinehurst. That woman could have died with dignity at 87. Now, she is barely one step above being a zombie. She has no quality of life.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Med Mal reform has had zero effect on health care costs in every jurisdiction in which it has been enacted. NC made their already harsh med mal laws even more stringent. They're some of the most defense-minded--if not the most defense-minded--in the nation. Yet, costs still skyrocket here. Liability carriers have pooled their money together and have wisely marketed their positions, and fools have bought that shit hook, line and sinker.
sardis wrote:You need these three things and all three, not one or two of the three:
Raise Medicare age to 72
Medical malpractice reform
Different levels of care - poor, medium, rich and priced accordingly.
I will hand it to Rubio. He was the only candidate to have the guts to mention raising the retirement age for SS and medicare.
