Re: MIT Engineers
I like the idea of HBO breaking out on its own.
DTV's pricing is such that is only 10 or 20 more a month to get everything versus their "good" package and an add HBO to it - as such I'm paying about $170 a month for TV and I'm tired of it.
Matter of fact -look at this chunk
$170 for DTV
$180 for 3 phones on an unlimited data plan
$79 a month for internet/land line
That's over $400 a month for that stuff - and none of it existed except the land line 20 years ago (existed as in I wanted it or knew about it).
My local Cinci bell offers all of that in a bundle. I need to check with them and see what they can do for me.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: MIT Engineers
initially my knee jerk reaction was "that's a 328i car payment"
but I guess collectively, internet, smart phone, dtv give me more enjoyment than any other material possession I could own in that price range

Re: MIT Engineers
Best bang for you buck, if you're in a car your car a lot, is satellite radio. $12 a month for hundreds of channels, music, talk radio, sports, comedy, you name it. I could never go back to 6 stations with 20 minutes of commercials per hour and Air Supply in between...
I want someone's ass blistered in the middle of Thanksgiving Square.

XM is great but it seems like all I listen to when it's on is PJ Radio, Kids Place Live, Jam On, and the 90s alternative station. I listen mostly to podcasts. I highly recommend Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. I have all of the episodes (it must be 150 hours of content) in a dropbox folder. If anyone ever wants it, let me know and I'll share it with you.

Re: MIT Engineers
I've yet to get into podcasts but I could see the appeal. On long trips, back when the kids would go comatose in the car, we'd listen to books on CD and now we still occasionally do it on MP3.
Podcasts would be more appealing because you aren't locked into hours on end of listening.
Every year for my wife's b'day I renew our Sirius subscription since its her daily driver. Actually I call them up the day before and cancel it, telling them there is no way I'll pay $185 for a year, and they always offer to knock off $80 if I renew. This year I said no again just to see what they'd do and they offered me 5 months for $35.
for that price I can pretty much listen to any NFL game, and I can always find a good college basketball game to listen to when we are traveling. My wife just likes the music stations. I can pretty much take or leave them. I'd rather just load up an SD card or mp3 player with music and go with that.
So I'll play the 5 month game with them for as long as it lasts.
I did see a Sirius channel on Roku last week. I tried to use it and it gave me some error and I gave up.

My bill is currently $275 for U200+HBO, my wireless phone, and my home internet.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: MIT Engineers
That's at&t. I probably also pay some much smaller amount of my HOA fees to the condo association for the most basic Comcast cable plan that every unit gets.

OK - send me your email addresses. I probably have them somewhere but this would be easier. Use the PM function on the board (assuming it's turned on).

Re: MIT Engineers
that explains why I couldn't find an option for wireless on their website.
turns out they aren't any cheaper - everything I have now minus cell with them was $227 introductory and then went to $289 in 12 months and their internet is 20mbs slower

Re: MIT Engineers
I believe Verizon will honor your CB contract till it runs out but look out once it does. I'm at about $270 for 3 smartphones a month but around here they have the best service.

Re: MIT Engineers
I use warner cable for Internet with the cable bundle. About $140. Then again it's basic HD cable. No HBO etc. I sponge off my ex wife's Netflix account. Shhhhh.
