I have been getting up to 5 phone calls from around 3pm to 9pm from telemarketers and I got sick of it, so I started researching what my options were.

If you still have a computer that has a modem, specifically a voice modem that supports caller ID (about 80% of modems that are less than 15 years old have it), I found a program called Phone Tray Pro that is pretty slick.

It has a black list feature that supports wild cards so I can have it block every 866,877,800 number. Since it looks at Caller ID, once someone calls I can add the number to the black list by clicking a button. It also has a white list where I can only allow people on the list to call.

So instead of the phone ringing 5 or 6 times now while I look at caller id and realize I want to ignore them, now the phone only rings once and if the caller is on the black list, they get a "disconnected" message (or a variety of messages I can choose from) and it also sends out the code /signal to robo callers that my phone is disconnected.

The only downside is I have to make sure my computer is up and running everyday during the peak phone call hours. You can get a 15 day trial of the software for free, and then buy it for $29.

After using it for 8 days now I can already tell that the calls have decreased. Also, if you don't have a modem that works, you can buy one of their recommended USB modems for $22 from amazon. It works with digital and internet phones as well.

We got rid of ours in the summer of 2012 and the marketers haven't figured it out yet.

I only get maybe 1 telemarketing call a week on my mobile, way fewer than you'd get with a land line and I've never taken any sort of precaution or screening. Haven't had a land line in about 10 years.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

I love telemarketers. You can talk all sorts of shit with them and most are required ti stay on the line with you.

I bet he has a hardline because of either a security system or his medic alert necklace that he can call for help with the push of a button the next time he nearly loses a hand working on something.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

couple of things

1. Saturday I sold a motorcycle to a guy - I was up front about what was wrong with it, went into detail about how to fix it, let the guy ride it around the yard, etc. I sell it to him for a very good price and he takes it home. Today he contacts me and says he doesn't want it, and wants his money back.

I feel guilty about it but I don't want the bike back and I don't want to give him his money back (and you'll see why in just a second)

2. My Sony HD TV died today. I can spend $40 on a new bulb to fix it or $899 for a 60" Vizio LED Smart TV.

what to do , what to do

Tell him to go fuck himself. You told him up front it was a piece of shit. Buy the tv & the bulb. Put the new tv in the house & the one with the new bulb in the garage.

You're welcome
