heh, yea...don't think we won't be doing that.

We're doing the electronics this week and the woodwork next.

to no one's surprise I"m sure, I'm also getting audited by the companies ISO 9000 guy today.

oh, and there are better jobs to be had this week. 2 guys are in New Orleans for the sole purpose of going to 6 restaurants and touring Mardi Gras world to make sure the food is good enough for the prices we'll be paying.

that *used* to be my job until I complained about how I thought one guy was taking advantage of it by demanding they (the hotel sponsoring us) buy him a silk shirt so he wouldn't have to drive 20 miles to his house to change clothes. Fucker lived in town and was demanding he get a room at the hotel AND he didn't pack for spending the night - and I'm the guy that gets sacked for it.

I don't get the appeal of Mardi Gras World.

To me the WWII Museum would be a much better activity. Although, I don't guess it matters. Most will be clamoring to get back to Bourbon, no matter where you choose.

For people who rarely if ever get Mardi Gras, I guess for a tourist it makes sense. Something you just don't get in other cities, including above ground cemeteries and ghost tours, swamp tours, and recently Katrina tours

Oh, and eCat, the Japanese have a saying: The protruding nail will be hammered down.

The silk shirt guy flipped the script to the boss:

"Yes sir, I knew how important it was to scout the location, so I made arrangements to get it done THAT day. But eCat - and I don't like to talk behind peoples' backs - just wanted to get home. I think he wanted to stretch out the recon on this place. And as Sweet Brown would say, "Ain't nobody got time for that." Just doing what I do: Taking care of things. Just do it. No fluff, no delay. But don't get me wrong, I don't throw stones at others who lack my worth ethic and dedication. Besides, I know eCat had to get back to his office to do some more Google Image searches. Wonder what he looks at? Doesn't matter. Anyway, I've got to get back to work, boss."

I guess, but as you know, it's just a warehouse on the wrong side of the river with old mardi gras floats and a small "museum". It's anticlimactic to me. Much rather listen to jazz for something 'authentic'.

the buzzers, microphones - the whole 9 yards"

Will you be playing the Richard Dawson role once it's completed?

apparently the Mardi Gras world guys are brothers and they have had a falling out, so one of them has opened a competing Mardi Gras world that is entirely air conditioned for events.

I initially suggested the WWII museum as the place we go to for kicking off the event but honestly, for a group of 800 - 1000 people , most of whom have probably never been to New Orleans, you're going to want them to see Mardi Gras world, even if its in the middle of summer. We're going to have a meal there in the "mansion".

As for the silk shirt guy, we have a history going back well before that - too long a story to type here but suffice to say he's got a reputation for living large on the company dime. We're on better terms now but even though I crack jokes about some things I do on my job, I do take being a good corporate citizen seriously.

Ahh, okay. Mardi Gras World it is.

And I find your stories hilarious. Kind of a cross between Lewis Grizzard, Ray Romano, Jerry Clower, and Dave Barry. So, please type up the backstory on silk shirt guy as soon as possible.
