Re: College Football
I'm relatively certain half the SEC could beat any one of Seattle, Arizona, San Francisco, and St. Louis right now.

Re: College Football
I can't imagine how Notre Dame will ever join a conference in football besides the Big 10. It's the only thing that makes any sense at all. They already play half the conference on a yearly basis, so you keep those rivalries in tact. The Big 10 network makes a bazillion dollars, so Notre Dame will s...

Re: College Football
Well, the good news there is that we can finally get that Mizzou-Arkansas rivalry going as it should be.

Re: College Football
Aside from the unbearable grammar and spelling mistakes, all in all, not a horrible effort.

So Hizzy appears to concur that San Diego is the lock solid pick for the week.

Re: College Football
Outscored 89-10. But it's the Chargers, and they choke. Still, that seems about as much a lock as any other contest on the calendar.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Another chuckle-inducing opinion. Though to be fair, I can see the logic of adding St. John's to the ACC from the Madison Square Garden ACC tournament perspective.

Re: College Football
Tough week for survival pools as there seem to be no iron-clad lock games out there. I'm leaning towards San Diego over the Chiefs, but that's just the kind of game at home a Norv Turner-Philip Rivers team loses. Other than that, what do you take? Eagles over Giants?

Re: College Football
I'd think East Carolina ends up in some sort of salvaged Big East, no? ND isn't going anywhere as long as NBC is going to overpay for the rights to Irish football. And if they are going to go somewhere, would they rather be in a conference where virtually every school has stellar academics (Big 10, ...

Re: College Football
I'd like to see the tooth fairy stick 1,000,000 $100 bills under my pillow tonight, but that also isn't happening. Anyway, I see that the Missouri-KU-Iowa State-Kansas State faction is now officially in talks with the Louisville-Cincinnati-USF-WVU faction to merge into some sort of BCS-eligible conf...

Re: College Football
So we're basically going to have the ACC, Big 10, Pac-whatever, and SEC in about five years, right?
I presume the Big East will end up being Villanova, G'town, PC, St. John's, Marquette, Seton Hall, DePaul, and some combination of Dayton, St. Joe's, and Xavier. Maybe even someone like URI.

Re: College Football
So when the ACC adds UConn and Rutgers to supplement Syracuse and Pitt, will Maryland ever play Duke or UNC again?
College football is slowly, but surely, destroying college athletics.

Re: College Football
I can't imagine them losing to Tavaris Jackson and Gimpy Rice, but what do I know? I'd think they'll put a beatdown on Seattle, but you're right, seeing them lose at home to that sorry group of professional players might be worth the Grant note.

Thinking about the Steelers for my survivor pool this week, but is it possible that last Sunday was the norm rather than a aberration and yellow and black just blow this year?

Trivia question: what pitcher is the active leader in MLB for strikeouts? I didn't even know the fellow was still in the league to be honest.

Saves are quite possibly the dumbest stat in baseball. Wins aren't far behind.
