Well, hallelujah. College hoops is back! So many things are different this year I just don’t know where to start. A&M is now in the SEC, which means I don’t know a damn thing about anybody we play this year. Well, that’s not totally true I guess, we get to play the coach thieves from Lexington, and we’re used to to playing the kittens from Baton Rouge as well, and I guess, it won’t really be a shock at all when the Frank Martin stare shows up at Reed Arena with his new team, Carolina.
A bunch of other teams are in new conferences too, but really who cares about the A-10 or whatever other crap leagues and programs are involved. The final four teams are certain to come from the BCS conferences anyway.
Things I’ve already learned this year…
Shabazz Muhammad was declared ineligible. What a shocking turn of events. I never would have dreamed the NCAA would come down on poor ole Shabazz and UCLA. This is almost as unjust as the time the NCAA didn’t allow Kentucky to field a professional player from Turkey.
The college basketball world was also rocked in the early weeks by the cancellation of the traditional annual Carrier Classic game due to condensation on the court. One positive to come from this is that next season there will be a new technology, most likely using some sort of witchcraft to keep the floor heated and prevent condensation, which will allow this timeless tradition to continue next year and into the future.
So, I’m looking forward to another great year this year! Prefferably one where cheaters don’t prosper (unlike last year) and also not one where everything that could possibly go wrong, does go wrong for my team.
Looks like tonights KU/MSU game is a grind it out nailbiter. Stunning. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if the 2nd game follows the preconception as well. Looking forward to a great game between a bunch of freak athlete freshmen and America’s favorite floppers (Durham version, not Chapel Hill)
