BC lost to Nicholls State this year, which is a pretty awful team.

Yeah that was a bad loss for AU. I really thought Bruce would inject some life into that program but maybe he just doesn't care any more.

Yes, you still miss Charles Barkley.

Bring Back Cliff Ellis!

That's if he is sober and not drunk and shagging with some woman in her fifties or sixties at Duck's, Spanish Galleon or Fat Harold's.

Some reporter once said to Charles Barkley, "We all know what the most popular sport at Auburn is, but what is the second most popular sport at Auburn? Charles said; "spring football."

That sounds more like Wimp Sanderson or former Alabama Head Football Coach Mike Price.

We were holding our own against a talented OU team until White got hurt just before the half. He's an average QB when he's healthy, but we have NOBODY behind him. We couldn't even beat a dumpster fire of a Georgia team without him. I knew we wouldn't score another point, the defense would wear down, and we'd get blown out, so I went to bed.

All in all, this Auburn team exceeded my expectations. Kevin Steele (peace be upon him) succeeded in giving us a solid defense after a long string of failed DC's. Pettway and Johnson really stepped up after we lost our two 5 star RB's in the preseason.

We signed a supposed All-Everything transfer from Baylor at QB. He's already enrolled. We have a history of washout 5 star recruits, but if he pans out, we should be strong at that position next year. Lord knows we need it.

Next up, recruit signing day. Looks like we'll do okay - probably top ten class.

A shitty SEC didn't hurt AU either, Prof.

The kid from Baylor (Stidham) is a stud, I'm really glad you got him instead of UF. I'm hoping that his signing along with us getting rid of Malik Henry will convince Joey Gatewood to take another look at FSU. He's a little raw but a great prospect.

Auburn' OC - Rhett Lashlee - just took a job at UConn.

I wish him well. He was an okay OC, I don't think he was a very good developer of young QB's. We had several supposed QB phenom signees that became busts. (Yeah, I'm looking at you, Jeremy Johnson.) Maybe the next OC can do better, especially with Jarret Stidham.

We landed a #10-ish recruiting class. That's not quite as good as previous years, but Auburn people have learned that top 5 classes don't always yield top 5 finishes. I'd like Malzahn and his staff to get better developing the players we recruit, particularly at QB.

Tubby was a poor recruiter, but usually fielded teams that were much better than the sum of their parts.

Well you got the best QB you've had since Cam...let's see if Gus and the new OC can utilize his gifts appropriately.

Amen.

Our last two great QB recruits - Cam and Marshall - transferred in and started immediately. The coaching staff didn't so much coach them up as unleashed them. Stidham may do the same as he is a rare talent.

Malzahn & company tried to "coach up" Jeremy Johnson, a prized QB recruit, but turned him into a future insurance salesman instead of the NFL player he could have been.

It's about time for Professor Tiger's annual football prediction.

Likely wins: GA Southern, Mercer, Missouri, LA Monroe.
Likely losses: Clemson, Georgia*, Alabama.
Toss ups: Miss State, Ole Miss, LSU, Arkansas, aTm.

I'll be optimistic and say we win three toss ups, and predict a 7-5 season. Meh.

*=Guaranteed loss.

Hearing AA explain, with a straight face, how that NFL franchise in Tuscaloosa is in trouble this year, is the only time I miss him.
