Had the porter oatmeal. It was pretty good - similar to Guinness.

I'll pass along your message to the people at Lowe's.

I would've thought DS would've enjoyed working in a warehouse setting...

I like driving around Chapel Hill. There a LOT of Prius's with Hillary bumper stickers.

Chapel HIll is where the upper middle class and upper class liberals live. The hardcore liberals, beatniks, socialists, communists, anarchists and weirdos are next door in Carrboro.

Heh. You aren't kidding. Chapel Hill always gives the appearance of prosperity. As we always do, we went out to Squid's for dinner. And as always, the parking lot was full of Lexus's, BMW's, Mercedes, etc. The customers inside were all very well dressed, especially the 40+ ladies. Same for the nearby mall.

Hedge, what part of Carrboro do you live in?

I lived on Main Street right across from the police station for a couple of years. I also lived about 5 miles west of Carrboro on Hwy 54 for a year. It's really just an extension of Chapel Hill, mostly students and folks who probably went to UNC and didn't want to leave. The scene outside the local organic food coop (Weaver Street grocery) is reminiscent of a Grateful Dead show parking lot scene. It's a pleasant place to spend a weekend afternoon...

I would think it would be risky for weed aficionados to live across the street from a police station. If the wind blows the wrong way you'd be in the slammer. But I can see why a lot of students never left Chapel Hill. It seems to be a great place.

They have a high tolerance for such activity in Carrboro.

It is, but Chapel Hill has become so damn expensive and commercial.

There is a LOT of construction going on between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. They're even clearing to build a new road right next to my Mom's retirement village. It looks like the two towns will eventually merge, and Pittsboro will cease to be the sleepy hamlet it now is.
