More news from the artist formerly known as ECUSA:

So, Ghost, it looks like gay marriages are coming to your traditionalist Diocese, whether your bishop approves it or not.

Yep, there's a couple of subversive parishes they'll flock to. We'll do our best to ignore them.

"“Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from who me no secrets are hid...”"

Sounds like living in North Korea...

Happy Assumption or Dormition Day Prof (whichever melts your Orthodox butter).

Dormition. Thanks. Does TEC observe Assumption?

I would like to take this opportunity to express my extreme disgust with the rampant pedophila that has been going on for decades by Catholic clergy in PA.

Disgusting. Abhorrent. Demonic. Reprehensible. Repugnant. Unfathomable. Horrendous. An abomination.

Any priest or bishop convicted in a court of law for sexually assaulting children, or covering up those who do, should be surgically turned into females and serve life sentences in cell blocks populated by gangs of weight lifting rapists.

Assumption isn't dogma in TEC/AC so some all it Assumption, others Dormition and the rest a feast day named for Mary without extra comment.

Agreed on the Pennsylvania perps. How long will the RCC persist with celibate clergy?

Ghost, I understand how Assumption/Dormition isn’t dogma in TEC, but that raises a question: what IS dogma in TEC?

Your question about the future of clerical celibacy in the RCC is a good one. I think that is a big part of their pedophilia crisis; probably even most of it, but certainly not all of it. Clerical celibacy has been the RCC norm for over a millennium, but I don’t think its pedophelia has ever been this bad. I agree with what I read today - “the Catholic Church doesn’t need better policies or procedures. They need better men.”

At least at this point, I think if Francis were to abolish clerical celibacy tomorrow, it wouldn’t change things much. Many of their priests would still opt for young boys to rape rather than grown women to marry.

One word - "Inclusion" everything else is optional under 'the big tent'. (well maybe except for lighting altar candles in the correct order)

Cancelling celibacy for the priesthood would be a 90% PR move today, you would still need the current clergy to die off, but perhaps over time it helps attract those 'better men'. Have you considered swimming the Tiber and help clean that mess from the inside? They let you keep your wife.

I thought I read somewhere that celibacy for the priesthood was a relatively new rule in the catholic church..

Heh... I agree with your assessment that abolishing celibacy for priests would be a PR move, and we would have to wait for the Sodomites to die off. The problem is, many of the Sodomites are Sodomites because they were sodomized by the previous generation of priests. It may very well be a self-perpetuating loop. The boys they molested may already be in seminary.

Also, when I decided I couldn’t be Protestant anymore, I knew I had two choices: Catholicism and Orthodoxy. I seriously thought about going to Rome, but Mrs. Tiger broke the tie when she said she wasn’t going to be the wife of Catholic priest, and our children were not going to be the children of a Catholic priest. Thanks to her, I made the right (and the only acceptable) decision. I never regretted it for a minute.

“the Catholic Church doesn’t need better policies or procedures. They need better men.”

That's a pretty incredible statement since the policy is to hide as much of the kid buggery as possible.
