I don't get the franticness of the Big 10 acquiring these low level football programs right now. Is Penn State still making threats? I don't know any other reason why they feel they have to hurry.

I feel that SEC and PAC12 are pretty ok to being where they are at, currently, so there is no threat of them poaching the Big 10. Both would be open to a Texas/OK addition, but I don't see any other team that is desirable. I don't see the Big12 picking off anyone from Big 10 either.

Being a life long Penn State fan, I don't get excited about Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia. I would for Notre dame, Pitt, syracuse, FSU, but the board of trustees would be giving up money. How much, I am not sure. You would think a ND and PSU could negotiate a weighted share of ACC revenue. I think if you are an ACC school you'd be ok with that as long as your $$ is maintained or increased.

I don't think there's a real "hurry" but the B1G would like to get to 16 in time for the tv contract negotiations. Current contract is up in 2017 and they want to cash in as much as possible.

I would've liked adding Pitt. If only they had brought in new markets...

Penn State has a tradition with those two going back to the independent days. And they are better football programs than Virginia. As a Penn State fan, I don't get juiced up about Maryland, Rutgers, and Virginia.

UVA was a couple of players away from being a pretty good team this year. And it's always good to kick the shit out of Miami.
