I’d be surprised if it wasnt Drew. In fact I believe Drew to Kentucky could have happened last year.

Grant McCasland at Tech will likely have a decision to make. Last year he only conditionally accepted the Tech job until Texas announced they were keeping Rodney Terry, likely because he knew he could go to Baylor if Texas hired Calipari instead.

its hard to find anything but twitter reports are saying Hurley said no and Drew is the guy Barnhart wanted all along but he knew he'd get crucified if he didn't try on Hurley.

Drew has been formally offered the job by a number of sources

one thing about Cal leaving

Craft stepped up and said he'd match Arkansas NIL money dollar for dollar - at least this year

Craft said he was walking away from basketball until Cal left

I've warmed up to the idea of Scott Drew. Ultimately he may tell UK no, but there is a certain Bobby Knight in his latter years vibe that Hurley gives off and he just needs the platform to bring it out of him.

And God knows that UK fans would follow that man to the end as long as he was winning, along with our donors pressuring the school to give him whatever he wants and look the other way when he does his bullshit.

I'll be happy with Hurley, and Drew will be a return to the Tubby Smith low key years of coaching but we won't have the crazy highs but we also won't have the crazy lows.

If we don't get either one, well, UK will go a few years with a gatekeeper I suppose

Now that their careers are over, here's a comparison of Dunleavy and Prince's pro stats:

Games played: 986 vs. 1017
Points per game: 11.2 vs. 11.1
Rebounds: 4.3 vs. 4.3
Assists: 2.2 vs. 2.2
FG%: 44.1 vs. 45.5
FG3%: 37.7 vs. 36.7
FT%: 80.3 vs. 75.6
effective FG%: 51.4 vs 48.3
PER (whatever that is): 13.9 vs. 13.7
WS (see above): 58.5 vs. 63.1
Career earnings: $85 million vs. $82 million

Dunleavy played 2 more years than Prince which accounts for his slightly higher career earnings, but those were not very productive years, which hurt his final stats slightly. Basically they were the exact same player, stat-wise. Prince no doubt was the far superior defender and he also played in 25 playoff series' (winning it all in his second year in the league) vs. Dunleavy's paltry 6 total playoff series', all towards the end of his career and only won one of them. So overall you'd have to say Prince had the far superior career...

consensus seems to believe Drew is prepared to make the decision and be the next coach.

Is Drew the Valpo dude who hit that shot that time? Hurley is ugly Bobby's brother? Where did he play ball? I didn't know he was coaching UConn.

Scott is Bryce’s brother iirc. Danny is a year or two younger than Bobby and played at Seton Hall.

only at Kentucky would the fans be blah about hiring a coach who recently won a national championship

On paper, Scott Drew is like one of maybe top 5 coaches based on past 5 year performance

and Kentucky fans are like "for fucks sake, not this guy!"

I was like that, repeating myself here - but I"m warming up to the guy. We may not have the high's of Calipari but we won't have the lows either

and the lows were pretty fucking bad under Cal

What I think will happen is UK will go back to having some continuity year over year with at least a handful of guys returning, we'll go back to celebrating Senior night and UK won't be known as Mercenary University anymore. Those, IMO , are all good things but its going to come at a cost.

Calipari went to Arkansas for one reason - and that was he was promised the biggest NIL bucket in college, which means he can now use the portal like he did the one and done in 2009 - 2015, he'll put together massively talented teams

Maybe he'll win, maybe he won't

but regardless of what he does at Arkansas, all I know is he wasn't going to do it at UK. It was past time for a split
