Were you a den leader or the Cubmaster, eCat? I've avoided any official role in my son's pack, preferring to keep to the shadows but participate in all the activities. I don't want BSA digging too deep into my past.

heh..this is boy scouts, not cubs.

We did the cub scout thing for a while but we had some nut for a den mother or whatever its called, at a campout , some adults broke out beers when the boys were asleep in the tents , she went apeshit and quit, and the pack broke up. We joined back when he was old enough for scouts. I was an assistant scout master for 5 years. We stuck it thru to the end. It actually was good for us. There is no competition in camping and there were many father/son moments in over the last 4 or 5 years that I'm glad I got to do. I would recommend it.

I'm sure I'll stay involved but I'm not wearing one of those khaki shirts.

He'll move up to Boy Scouts next December since he's more than halfway to Arrow of Light.
