Spurrier bails on an 0-4 team midseason....

after responding during the offseason to negative recruiting about his age that he would be there 4-5 more years....

True to form - he wouldn't be a lame duck coach for one day. It will be good to see him wearing orange and blue again.

We're going to the USC game this weekend. I wonder if the fans will come out in appreciation of all he's done for SC football, or if they will stay away as a scornful sendoff?

Welp, just read the report, he ain't even going to be on the sidelines this weekend. There must be something going on in his personal life, b/c that win over UNC to open the season was enough to give him job security for several years, irregardless of if he lost every other game...

I wish you would retire from here.

Nobody cares enough about UNC to call it a "job-saver", except maybe Duke and NCSU.

I think he basically said "fuck this shit" and just quit. He doesn't care any more. I've told my wife all year that Spurrier stopped caring and it has showed. I don't blame him - if I was 70 years old, had tons of "fuck you" money, and had a bunch of people telling me I sucked at my job and should do this and this and this differently, I'd do the same thing.

Good for you Steve.

This is SOS' m.o. - he waited until after the bowl game to announce he was leaving UF, he left $10Mill on the table when he quit the Skins, and he wasn't going to spend a day coaching Carolina when his heart wasn't in it. I'm still amazed that he coached to 70.

He said he resigned and not retired so he will probably be leaving money on the table at the USC.

"Nobody cares enough about UNC to call it a "job-saver", except maybe Duke and NCSU."

You need to adjust your sarcasm radar...

SOS is the third best coach of my lifetime, after Bryant and Saban. He's a stud in my book. I wish him well whatever he does.

Maybe he will go from USCe to USCw.

I dunno, the all time wins leader was in your lifetime. And the active win% leader now coaches at the same school.

Damn it, I just got my tickets from Stub Hub, I paid $80 for $40 face value tickets. They are club level, though, and I am assuming they will be serving alcohol, so it's worth it...

With apologies to Eminem...

Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
We need a little controversy
Cause it seems to empty without Steve...
