That or one of the Brunswick County beaches.

I would love to have a place in Beaufort or Morehead, but she would never go for that due to distance and because she doesn't particularly like dealing with the Eastern NC social cliques....

I want something on the sound / ICW or within walking distance of a boat slip. I haven't been on the beach at AB in a decade but have been down there dozens of times. I just hang out on the boat and at the bars, usually Jacks.

I'm sure you know, Hedge, but MJ was holding court at Jacks during the Big Rock. He was hanging out on the roof.

IIRC, Jack's is where you and the MYF met the then future Mrs. DS all those years ago. Ha

we know some people that just got back from Gatlinburg and caught covid -19.

My son has told us he isn't going with us because he thinks its too high risk. I can appreciate him being mature about it as a 22 year old.

I think we're going to cancel as much as I hate to

"My son has told us he isn't going with us because he thinks its too high risk. I can appreciate him being mature about it as a 22 year old."

Let's see, fambly vacation to Dollywood with the folks or stay home and party with my friends while the folks are out of town and we can have the house to ourselves (but frame it that I'm not going b/c of the covid so I can get bonus points for being mature)? Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

yea,my SIL was telling us about that today.

the daughter just started a summer job working at Wendy's yesterday and they read her the riot act about wearing a mask so maybe that will scare her.

People her age just don't give a fuck about transmitting this virus.

The guy I work with, his son is a freshman at Alabama, haven't heard any report on him, but his older sister who goes to Sewanee, just got back a positive test for the covid antibody. So evidently she's had it and she's been home since March. Supposedly a big outbreak down at the beach, too, but nobody seems to care...

There is no better sound to wake up to than the crashing of ocean waves. Unless you're crotch who just prays to hear his heartbeat.

A gaziilion years ago (before 2009 to be sure) one of you posted a baby back ribs recipe using vinegar and BBQ sauce as a marinade the night before. Anyone remember that and have a copy to post?

This won't help you, but I smoke ribs for 5-6 hours and periodically mop them with my Carolina mixture (4 parts apple cider vinegar, 1 part ketchup,
big dashes of tx pete, lot of pepper). They're done but I lather on another concoction that features turbinado sugar and maple syrup and throw them on the grill to make a sweet crust. The sweet and the tart underneath works.

Grilling-wise, you could bag the ribs and pour the vinegar mixture in and seal it up and put it in the fridge. Massage it some before you go to bed.

Sounds good. I will use some of that with this next batch. My memory is marinating overnight with a combo of vinegar and BBQ sauce

Ketchup in the sauce? That is for weirdos who move from out of state to the Piedmont.

If you want good eastern NC sauce, here you go: https://www.samjonesbbq.com/store/sam-jones-pit-pack.

If you think Sam Jones is too sweet and you're looking for a spicy -- but not overpowering spice -- flavor, try this: https://www.scottsbarbecuesauce.com/shop/

Here's what we ended up doing:

Was very good!

1 Cup White Vinegar
1 Cup BBQ Sauce
1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Mustard
2 Teaspoons Chile Pepper Flakes (Red Pepper)
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
Healthy Pinch of Salt
Healthy Pinch of White Pepper

Marinate overnight. Cook low and slow.

Meanwhile, add 1/4 cup Turbinado Sugar to the reserved sauce and simmer until thick for mopping during cooking and extra dipping sauce.
