It looks like you're tazering Miami...

Just noting that they lost and will fall off the list.

I would think their losing and falling off the list occurred simultaneously. Perhaps we should ask IB about the mathematical aspects of this situation. At any rate, I appreciated the graphical expression of their loss and lost place on the list (whenever it might be said to have occurred) which made it appear they were being electrocuted, somewhat like that old board game where you tried to extract bones and organs from the "patient" with a pair of tweezers, but if you grazed the edge of metal, you got zapped. What was that called? Operation?

I usually leave the losers on the list for a week. If you'd like to take it over, please do.

Usually? There are only six posts on this thread...

I'm actually more interested in what might have caused you to divert from your usual protocol and take somebody off the list immediately. Outrage? Disgust? Ennui?

I used to do this on Wxing.

Nothing particular. Carelessness.

I was hoping for outrage...

Nah. No outrage.

Anyway, this thread used to garner more talk. Things like which team would lose/win first; opinions on the strongest winless team or the weakest undefeated; who had the best chance to win out/lose out; etc.

No such chatter now. Just you quizzing me on how I choose to denote changes to the list, my use of the word 'usually', and random other inanities.

Meh. Best to let this thread die.

Well, in fairness, it was barely breathing to start with. But don't despair. Like some writers, this thread may attain its greatest life posthumously...

And (admittedly, this is a minor point), I didn't really quiz you on anything. You seemed to take umbrage in my justified confusion concerning the correlation (or lack thereof) b/w a team losing and falling off the list. Your explanation satisfied me, but then you lashed out at me. I didn't deserve that. I was just a humble newbie, but you couldn't (or wouldn't) put in the time to shape and mold me into the kind of poster you crave for this thread. But, FWIW, I think Hawaii is by far the strongest of the unbeatens, and I hope that this observation touches off the rockets of the sprightly confabulation (to paraphrase Nabokov) that you seem to so urgently desire. But I kinda doubt it...

1. You're objecting to my use of the word 'quizzed' for our exchange? Fine. 'Queried'. Happy?

2. You are reading umbrage where none exists.

3. I didn't lash; you would still be red-faced and limping if I had lashed.

Bowling Green at Miami (OH) is on right now. A chance for one of the winless teams on the list to change their status and fall off the list! Or at least to change their status and then at some as yet undetermined date in the future to fall off the list...

The taking umbrage and lashing out don't really warrant 2 different issues. They are two sides of the same coin. So change that to 2a and 2b...
